For 15 years, I suffered from Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS). I had bloating, diarrhea, discomfort in the mid section. I was sad when I learned of the diagnosis. I could not eat out, I could not play with my kids, and I didn’t want to leave the house. I had low self esteem and did not have a social life. I was scared to go out and I didn’t like parties.
The doctors put me on drug medications including Gasex, Dicyclomine, anti-inflammatories and muscle relaxers. There were no real treatments, just drugs to ease the discomfort and pain killers. The drugs hurt my stomach more than it helped. The Dicyclomine caused other problems, such as body soreness. I felt like an old man. I also went to a nutritionist and went on different diets, but it did not work.
My cousin Mary referred me to the Natural Medicine Center, and on August 11, 2004 I started treatments consisting of acupuncture, herbal medicine, supplements, nutrition and dietary guidelines.
