HOW IS PSORIASIS TREATED WITH ACUPUNCTURE?
PSORIASIS
Psoriasis is an autoimmune disease that accelerates the life cycle of the skin cells. They cause the dead skin to buildup on the surface, leading to red lesions with thick silvery scale patches. Psoriasis is commonly found on the elbows, knees, scalps, lower back, face, palm, and soles of feet, but they may show up anywhere. Psoriasis tends to flare up for a few weeks or months, and then subsiding from time to time. People with psoriasis also have other serious health conditions such as diabetes, heart disease, and depression.
PSORIASIS SYMPTOMS
Depending on the severity of the condition, symptoms of psoriasis may vary in each individual. The most common symptoms include red patches covered with thick, silvery scales, small scaling spot, dry, and cracked skin. Psoriasis can feel itchy, burning, or soreness. They may have swollen and stiff joints.

Having one or both parents with psoriasis.
Weak immunity
Obesity
Smoking
TREATMENT FOR PSORIASIS
There is no cure for psoriasis. Psoriasis can be treated by topical treatments, light therapy, and systemic medications. Several topical creams and ointments help reduce inflammation, relieve itching, promote sloughing of dead skin, and slow down skin cell growth for individuals with mild to moderate psoriasis. Light therapy uses natural or artificial ultraviolet light to expose skin cells to light. Light therapy helps slows skin cell turnover and reduces scaling and inflammation in an individual with mild to moderate psoriasis. Systemic treatments help treat individuals with severe psoriasis. Oral or injected medication helps decrease skin cell production and suppresses inflammation. Not all treatments are intended for long term use due to serious side effects.

Acupuncture and herbal medicine induce homeostatic response on the cellular level by influencing the body's internal organs to correct imbalances in their digestion, absorption, and energy production activities. They stimulate the nervous system to release chemicals in the muscles, spinal cord, and brain. These chemicals will change the experience of pain, or they will trigger the release of other chemicals and hormones which influence the body's own internal regulation system. Five years ago I woke up in the morning and I can't walk due to swelling and stiffness on the knee. My primary doctor referred me to a specialist.
