At four months old, my son developed eczema on his cheeks. When he was old enough to crawl, it spread all over his neck, arms, and legs. He was covered in big, red spots that inflamed throughout his body. His skin was dry, flaky, and scaly that looked and felt like an alligator. There was not a spot on his arms, hands, and leg that wasn't eczema. Everything I did for my son did not help. He was miserable. Temperature Control and Regulation

In a sense, the body is a small universe with a heat and energy giver, exemplifying the sun within a solar system. The hypothalamus of the brain acts as a “thermostat” to control body temperature. This homeostatic mechanism maintains 37 degrees Celsius (or 98.6 degrees Fahrenheit) in a healthy person. It not only controls the external temperature but also internal temperature of important organ systems.

When the body is exposed to a cold environment and the temperature begins to drop, the hypothalamus senses this change and triggers heat-generating and heat-conserving activities. Small groups of muscle cells are stimulated to involuntarily contract - an action called shivering. These muscular contractions produce heat, which warm the body. At the same time, blood vessels within the skin also constrict to reduce blood flow, which allow heat to be retained in deeper tissue.

Similarly, if a person becomes over heated, the temperature control center of the brain triggers a series of changes that promote loss of body heat. Sweat glands in the skin are stimulated to secrete watery perspiration. As the water evaporates from the surface, heat is carried away and the skin is cooled down. At the same time, the brain center causes blood vessels in the skin to dilate. This allows the blood that carries heat from deeper tissue to reach the surface where more heat is lost to the outside. Also, the brain center stimulates increased heart rate, causing a greater volume of blood to move into the surface vessels and an increase in breathing rate allowing more heat carrying air to be expelled from the lungs. 

The 14 vertical organ systems (female reproductive, male reproductive, liver, gallbladder, heart, small intestine, pericardium, lymphatic, stomach, spleen, lung, large intestine, kidney, and urinary bladder) have different internal temperatures, as do the seasons. If there is an imbalance of internal environment, the organ systems show different symptoms or illnesses. HOW IS PSORIASIS TREATED WITH ACUPUNCTURE?

PSORIASIS

Psoriasis is an autoimmune disease that accelerates the life cycle of the skin cells. They cause the dead skin to buildup on the surface, leading to red lesions with thick silvery scale patches. Psoriasis is commonly found on the elbows, knees, scalps, lower back, face, palm, and soles of feet, but they may show up anywhere. WHAT IS ECZEMA?

At four months old, my son developed eczema on his cheeks. When he was old enough to crawl, it spread all over his neck, arms, and legs. He was covered in big, red spots that inflamed throughout his body. His skin was dry, flaky, and scaly that looked and felt like an alligator. There was not a spot on his arms, hands, and leg that wasn't eczema. Everything I did for my son did not help. He was miserable. His eczema kept him up all day and all night, causing him to be restless. I was restless, too. 

When his pediatrician told me that it was just a baby rash, which is common in infants, it will eventually go away. Since it didn't go away and it came back worse than before, that was when his pediatrician diagnosed my son with eczema. What came across my mind was “are you kidding me!” I couldn't believe such a thing could happen to my precious little boy. I wasn't aware of what eczema was or have I seen them before so seeing my son acquire such condition was unbelievable.

We used everything from over the counter antihistamine cream, and body oil to prescription steroid cream and nothing helped to relieve the pain he was experiencing. His primary pediatrician even increased his steroid cream dosage and recommended other over-the-counter creams, but it just made his eczema worse. I felt hopeless for my son. Even with intensive research on eczema, everything I did for him, including his doctor recommendation and home remedies for eczema did not work. It was just a temporary relief. There was nothing modern medicine could do to help my little boy. The inflammation was unbearable that it made him irritable, grumpy, and itchier that he couldn't stay asleep for more than 15-30 minutes at a time. All I wanted was my baby boy to be happy, but the eczema was controlling his life.

One day, my neighbor recommended that I visit Agape Natural Health in Orange County because they have a friend who had eczema and they are no longer suffering from bad scaly, itchy and dry skin by doing acupuncture. I was skeptical when my neighbor told me about acupuncture because I didn't believe in natural medicine. Since I’ve exhausted all my options, I was desperate to try other alternatives. After visiting Agape Natural Health website, some babies and adults suffered from eczema and seeing images of their result were incredible. It leads me to believe there was hope for my son to be a joyful boy again.

At sixteen months old, I took my son to Agape Natural Health. My first impression of the clinic felt very welcoming, like home. The staff members were friendly, professional, and knowledgeable. They answered all my questions and concerns. After our consultation with Dr. Huang, we began treatment right away. Dr. Huang was very gentle towards my son and showed so much love towards the both of us. Dr. Huang prescribed my son with children's natural herbals and natural cream for the skin. The cream worked like a miracle! After applying the cream all over the eczema portion of his body, two days later, the red bump that was throughout his legs went away. I couldn't believe it! 

Coming into Agape Natural Health for acupuncture treatment, all I hope for was to relieve my son itchiness and for him to get sleep but in return, I gained more than I asked for from acupuncture. Before, my son would never smile. He was always grumpy, angry, inactive, and crying because of his eczema. After doing treatments every week with Dr. Huang, my son went through a transformation. Five months of acupuncture treatment, his severe eczema is now 96% better! I couldn’t believe it, I wasn’t expecting his eczema to go away. Thinking “is this real?” because the result was out of this world. My son is now happier than ever. He is now able to nap for three hours straight and stay asleep for more than 4-5 hours a night. My baby boy is back to normal, and he is always smiling! 

At first, my friends and I were skeptical about acupuncture, but my husband was supportive of having our son try natural medicine.

For a person that didn’t believe in natural medicine, I am now 100% a firm believer in natural medicine. I would recommend anyone that is going through depression, those that are sleepless, have no energy or overweight to see Dr. Huang at Agape Natural Health because it’s better to do natural medicine than modern medicine. This place is amazing!!! For 6 long months, I was covered head to toe in hives everyday. I suffered from a rash on the stomach, which was red in color. There was itching and I was worried about the rash. I used an “over the counter” anti-itch cream to temporary relieve the itch for rash for short term. I wasn’t satisfied with the cream because it didn’t fix the issue in the long term. I also had shoulder and neck pains and stiffness, which occurred in the past that kept me from looking while driving and I had chiropractor care.

I was looking for treatment for my conditions, and a friend, who was a patient at Agape Acupuncture, recommended all-natural. He referred acupuncture so he wouldn’t have to get drug medications. I was looking for a cure for my conditions, was curious and I hoped it would work because it was natural. I started with acupuncture and herbs. Ease fear of needles - the treatments were easy and comfortable.

The rash was better after a few sessions. There were no more worries about rash, at ease about neck and shoulder. Everything is back to normal with everyday life and doing things. I was diagnosed with body wide hives and it progressed over time. I always thought I was relatively healthy and when it happened it shook up my life and made the simplest things really hard. I was diagnosed with eczema and migraine headaches at 13 years old. I suffered with this condition for 9 years and felt nervous that it would effect my skin my whole life. The headaches limited me where I could not go to work. The migraine headaches caused extreme nausea, and I was very light and sound sensitive. It caused me to be sick and it was hard to talk with people or focus on anything. The eczema made my skin extremely itchy. I could not wear clothes that I wanted. I had sleeplessness at night from the irritation and it bothered me daily at work.

I went to several Dermatologists for the eczema and the treatments of topical and steroid based ointments typically lasted 3 months. The eczema would go away for only short amounts of time and then come back. The creams always irritated my skin, caused extreme burning and dried out surrounding areas not affected by eczema.

We go to church with Dr. Huang and I began coming to Agape Acupuncture, Inc. in September 2012. I hoped to start a healthier life and that my eczema and headaches would be no longer. My family was very supportive! My friends were slightly weary but quickly saw the results and are no longer skeptics. I did not understand natural medicine and everything it treated. I started acupuncture treatments, herbal medicine, nutrition, food and dietary guidelines. The staff was so friendly, knowledgeable, very warm and welcoming, and always busy – this was a good sign to me!

I started feeling better about 3 weeks into treatments. My home life is healthier – healthier eating and living in general. I have more energy at work and feel I have been a good influence to my friends on living a healthier life. I feel healthy and have an improved quality of life! The dietary guidelines were most difficult in the start, but now it is a regular part of my life. I lost weight and I lost a desire for sugars and caffeine. The Mayo Clinic describes many types of dermatitis such as contact dermatitis, neurodermatitis, seborrheic dermatitis, stasis dermatitis, atopic dermatitis, and perioral dermatitis.

Causes of Dermatitis or Rashes:

According to the Mayo Clinic there are many irritants or allergens that can cause dermatitis or rashes such as soaps, detergents, cleaning supplies, rubber, metals such as nickel, jewelry, perfume, fragrances, cosmetics, weeds, poison ivy, and/ or topical antibiotic creams. Other factors that can cause dermatitis or rashes can be dry skin, chronic irritation, eczema, physical stress, neurological conditions, varicose veins, obesity, deep vein thrombosis, chronic infections, and/ or immune or autoimmune disorders.

Treatment of Dermatitis or Rashes by modern medicine:

Treatment methods depending upon the type of dermatitis or rash could be a combination of hydrocortisone creams, stronger steroidal creams, cool wet compresses of affected area, antidepressants, anti-anxiety medications, warm mineral or olive oils, shampoos with tar, salicylic acid, or ketoconazole, immunosuppressant topical medications, light therapy, and/ or oral antibiotics according to the Mayo Clinic.

I developed Eczema on my arms when I was 18 years old. Then it started to spread when I was 21. I had red spots all over my neck and they were itchy and scaly. My skin felt hot and had scabs and I felt very uncomfortable. When I exercised, my skin would become irritated. In school it was hard for me to concentrate and socially I was always self-conscious. In the summer time I was limited to what I could wear, and I always wanted to cover my arms and neck. It was hard being a girl and wanting my skin to look pretty.

I used steroid creams and other creams purchased online and steroid pills prescribed by the Dermatologist from 2008 – 2010. The treatments helped for a little while and then it came back. I did research online and knew that acupuncture was credible. I read some of the testimonials. I hoped to have my skin condition get better and to be able to concentrate in school. I started coming to Natural Medicine Center on October 9, 2010. My husband was supportive. The treatments I received were acupuncture, herbs and creams.

By the second week of acupuncture, I was feeling better. By the second month, my skin was 80% better. It is less red, less itchy and my skin is smoother. I have been sleeping better at night and have increased energy. I am able to concentrate in school and feel more confident socially. I feel healthier in general. I feel very happy about my results. I was hoping but somewhat skeptical because in the past I tried many other treatments that didn’t work for me. My family and friends are very happy for me.

I have had psoriasis since I was 13 years old. It was itchy, flakey, red and noticeable. I first got it on my scalp which led to hair loss. I suffered from eczema and dermatitis of the hands for many years. I had swelling and water blisters and I could not move my fingers. “There was a peace that I had not experienced in a very long time.”

It was the summer of 2012 when I first began to see little red bumps developing on my legs. I had assumed that they were bug bites, and that they would disappear if left alone for a while. A few weeks later, these bumps had covered my legs and were starting to appear on all parts of my body. They were very itchy and would often blister, causing pain as well. The ones that appeared on my fingers were especially difficult to deal with, as they made simple acts such as carrying objects much harder.

I went to doctor, who recommended me to another doctor, who recommended me to a dermatologist. He gave me some ointment to put on my skin, but it didn't really seem to help much. I went to another dermatologist, who diagnosed it as eczema. I have a few friends who have eczema, but their symptoms seemed much different from mine, as I had blistered sores covering most of my body, making normal, everyday tasks very difficult. The new dermatologist gave me a different set of ointments to try. Although it helped with the sores, new ones would keep appearing.

After about eight months, I went to another doctor on my parent's recommendation. My skin didn't seem to be doing much better there, and I found myself relying on the ointments just to make it through the day and allow myself to sleep at night, even though I knew overuse would be bad for my skin in the long run.

I had just about run out of options when my pastor's wife sent me an email. Her friend had been treated by Dr. Kevin Huang and recommended him to me. Although I never understood much about acupuncture or natural medicine, I felt like it couldn't hurt to check it out, especially since this doctor was a Christian like me.

At first things were difficult — I was put on a strict diet when I was used to eating whatever I wanted. I had to go to bed early even though the itchiness made it hard to sleep, and I was told to exercise more. I was given a new cream — one that would not be damaging to my skin. However, after a few months, I noticed that the sores were disappearing at a much faster rate than new ones are appearing. After a few more months my skin was looking a lot healthier. Any sores that popped up disappeared quickly. I was able to do a lot of things that I had given up on. I could travel without worrying about how bad my skin would feel. I could wear clothes that were previously too uncomfortable on all the sores. I could take a shower without feeling very itchy afterwards. There was a peace that I had not experienced in a very long time.

I am very grateful to Dr. Huang for the treatments he gave me, as well as taking the time to get to know me and pray for me. As a fellow brother in Christ, I found the talks about our faith very encouraging, and it gave me a confidence that things would be okay. Thank God for the peace I feel and the comfort of being able to live daily life, and thanks to Dr. Huang for treating me and looking after my health.

I am very grateful to Dr. Huang for the treatments he gave me, as well as taking the time to get to know me and pray for me. Dear Dr. Huang:

On Labor Day 2014 I noticed several red rashes covering my entire chest so I promptly went to my dermatologist. She took a skin culture and then diagnosed it as a rare bacteria skin infection. She then prescribed antibiotics and started me using, over the counter, sensitive body wash, and told me to take 5 minute daily warm water showers and apply, twice daily, anti-itch moisture creams - none of this corrected the rash or stopped the itching.

Then I remembered that, in 2012, I developed severe redness, itching, cracking and dry skin covering both ears caused by the new hearing aids I just acquired. At that time, with strong recommendation from my daughter Vicki, she convinced me to sign up for Dr. Huang's acupuncture renowned treatment and began using, twice each day, the herbal creams he prescribed and soon a miracle happened again and the skin around my ears turned to normal and the problem was quickly healed completely - and continue in good condition today in 2015.
