I am a 69-year-old patient who has been seeking treatment at Agape Natural Health since March 2021, driving all the way from Los Angeles to Newport Beach on a weekly basis for acupuncture treatments and herbal supplements. When I first arrived at the clinic, I had been battling diabetes for 16 years and was reliant on medications to manage my condition but my blood sugar continued to trend up over the years and beginning to become out of control.

In addition, a pulmonary nodule of 1.3 cm was discovered in March 2021, adding to my serious health concerns. I had arthritic pain and very low energy and weight gain issues.  My blood pressure was also high for many years, and my A1C level was alarmingly high at 9.6.

However, my experience at Agape Natural Health has been nothing short of remarkable. The dedicated and knowledgeable staff, along with the expertise of Dr. Huang, has transformed my health and well-being. I am overjoyed to share that after several months of treatment, my A1C level dropped significantly to 7.4 in November 2022 from 9.6 Feb, 2021, leaving my doctors astonished and elated at the outstanding results.

To my surprise and delight, on August 26, 2022, a follow-up examination revealed that the pulmonary nodule had completely disappeared. This news left my doctor in disbelief, and I couldn't be more grateful for the positive impact that the treatments at Agape Natural Healh have had on my overall health. Not only have I experienced weight loss and increased energy levels, but I have also noticed a significant reduction in my reliance on medications. Furthermore, my blood pressure has shown improvement, and my body aches and pains have greatly diminished.

On November 24, 2018, I went to the dermatologist and was diagnosed with eczema dermatitis. I was shocked. I followed all of the recommendations, had a proper bedtime, and I got the results fast! After my first treatment, the pain was almost gone. The swelling went down, no headaches, no pain! I’ve suffered from chronic migraine for about 4 years.  Before I came to Natural Medicine, I was experiencing migraines 3-4 times per week.  I literally wasn’t functioning.  I was prescribed many painkillers and could only function while on them.  I became depressed as a result of the frequency of the migraines as it affected all areas of my life: my marriage, work, social life etc.  I’m young but was not leading a fulfilling youth.  I would stay inside often and would have to schedule everything around my migraines.  In addition, having the right number of medications was always a worry and stress of mine.  I often times would run out of my medications before I was able to refill them again leaving me feeling hopeless that I could not conquer the migraine on my own should one set in.  

So six months ago, I decided to give acupuncture a try.  I was skeptical at first and wasn’t sure it would help.  But the way I saw it was it couldn’t hurt to try.  It’s natural and safe so if it didn’t work, I would just be right back where I started, not any worse.  So I gave it a go. The staff and doctor - just everyone was super nice and comforting. They couldn’t be more kind. You really feel at home there. And don’t worry about the needles. The needles didn’t hurt at all, you can barely feel them. It did take some time to see results - about 1-2 months.  However, when the results started coming in, boy were they good.  I mean, really really good. I’m glad now that I was patient and kept going. Currently, I have migraine symptoms maybe once per month - if that. When I do get the symptoms, I am able to take one pain reliever and it actually works and I’m able to function. The acupuncture treatments even caused me to respond better to medications. Before, there were times I took 3-4 pain relievers to find no relief at all. Even during times of high stress, I’m not having migraine attacks (whereas before, I would get them so badly I would be out of work for days). I finally have my life back. I can attend social events, spend time with my husband, and even be in the sunlight!!!! No more dark rooms and sunglasses on 24/7. I suffered from fibromyalgia for over 7 years, and I was diagnosed with heel spurs 3½ years ago. It started on my heels and then it went to my hip. This condition affected every aspect of my life. It made me tired and made it difficult to care for a child and keep up the household. The pain and fatigue affected my work and socializing with friends and family. The pain was too much and I could not walk. I was tired all the time.

I went to the medical doctors and they did nerve testing and x-rays. They found large heel spurs on my left and right foot. They gave me cortisone shots which ultimately did not help me and I was in pain and had difficulty walking. There were no results from the cortisone shots.

On June 23, 2006, I came to the Agape Acupuncture, Inc. with the encouragement of my sister. I was interested in learning about natural medicine, but I have never tried it. I wanted to be alleviated of the constant pain and I hoped to be able to walk normally again without pain. I began receiving acupuncture treatments and taking herbal medicine.

The treatment results are fantastic. I wish I had known about it years ago. I began feeling better 6 weeks into the treatments. I have no more hip pain and I am able to walk without pain and stand up straight. I have increased energy and I am able to be like others and be normal again.

For 20 years, I suffered with migraine headaches. The migraines were every month, lasting 3 days like clock work. It was awful because I knew what was coming. It progressively got worse and I suffered from vomiting, blurred vision, and a constant throbbing pain on the left side of the head. It was an awful experience that words cannot express, and it interrupted my whole lifestyle. I had to gauge life around this condition and it often left me bed ridden.

I saw a migraine specialist who put me on drug medications and pain killers. I have been on migraine medicine over 20 years. The medicine made me feel lethargic, irritable and impatient. It was always a new drug prescription, and I had given myself so many shots every month, I felt like a drug addict. "I hated it." Nothing worked and when the shots did not work, I had to go to the emergency room.

On June 4, 2005, I came to the Natural Medicine Center because for 4 days straight I felt the pain and it didn’t cease. I didn’t want to go on like this and I didn’t want to live anymore. I was willing to try anything, but I had been reluctant prior because I wanted to find a qualified licensed acupuncturist. I found the clinic to be very friendly and very relaxed.

I just wanted to say thank you for everything you have done for me.  You have no idea how you have impacted my life.  Before I came to you my life was miserable.  With the herbs and acupuncture I have never felt better. I have more energy and an improved quality of life. This is a miracle come true for me. “There was a peace that I had not experienced in a very long time.”

It was the summer of 2012 when I first began to see little red bumps developing on my legs. I had assumed that they were bug bites, and that they would disappear if left alone for a while. A few weeks later, these bumps had covered my legs and were starting to appear on all parts of my body. They were very itchy and would often blister, causing pain as well. The ones that appeared on my fingers were especially difficult to deal with, as they made simple acts such as carrying objects much harder.

I went to doctor, who recommended me to another doctor, who recommended me to a dermatologist. He gave me some ointment to put on my skin, but it didn't really seem to help much. I went to another dermatologist, who diagnosed it as eczema. I have a few friends who have eczema, but their symptoms seemed much different from mine, as I had blistered sores covering most of my body, making normal, everyday tasks very difficult. The new dermatologist gave me a different set of ointments to try. Although it helped with the sores, new ones would keep appearing.

After about eight months, I went to another doctor on my parent's recommendation. My skin didn't seem to be doing much better there, and I found myself relying on the ointments just to make it through the day and allow myself to sleep at night, even though I knew overuse would be bad for my skin in the long run.

I had just about run out of options when my pastor's wife sent me an email. Her friend had been treated by Dr. Kevin Huang and recommended him to me. Although I never understood much about acupuncture or natural medicine, I felt like it couldn't hurt to check it out, especially since this doctor was a Christian like me.

At first things were difficult — I was put on a strict diet when I was used to eating whatever I wanted. I had to go to bed early even though the itchiness made it hard to sleep, and I was told to exercise more. I was given a new cream — one that would not be damaging to my skin. However, after a few months, I noticed that the sores were disappearing at a much faster rate than new ones are appearing. After a few more months my skin was looking a lot healthier. Any sores that popped up disappeared quickly. I was able to do a lot of things that I had given up on. I could travel without worrying about how bad my skin would feel. I could wear clothes that were previously too uncomfortable on all the sores. I could take a shower without feeling very itchy afterwards. There was a peace that I had not experienced in a very long time.

I am very grateful to Dr. Huang for the treatments he gave me, as well as taking the time to get to know me and pray for me. As a fellow brother in Christ, I found the talks about our faith very encouraging, and it gave me a confidence that things would be okay. Thank God for the peace I feel and the comfort of being able to live daily life, and thanks to Dr. Huang for treating me and looking after my health.

HOW IS ENDOMETRIOSIS TREATED WITH ACUPUNCTURE?

Endometriosis is a female medical disorder where the cells from the uterine lining (womb) grows in various parts in the body. Symptoms included infertility, irregular menstrual type bleeding, and pain. These cells are called endometrial cells and are removed from the lining of the Uterus (Endometrium) every month. In women with endometriosis tissue implants are located on the ovaries, bowel, bladder, rectum and the lining of the pelvic area and can occur in other areas of the body.  The tissue implants grow every time the woman gets her period and this causes pain and other discomfort. The endometrial cells in the uterus slough off during the normal menstrual cycle, in women with Endometriosis the tissue implants located outside the uterus stay in place.

ENDOMETRIOSIS SYMPTOMS:

The cause of this disorder in not known. It is suspected that the endometrial cells that are shed during your period travel backwards up the fallopian tubes into the pelvis where they implant and grow. This is called retrograde menstruation. This is a common this order that may run in the family. Endometriosis is usually diagnosed between age 25-35, however the condition may began when the normal period begins. Typically, a woman with a sister or mother whom has endometriosis is more likely to develop endometriosis.

RISK FACTORS:

Periods that last 7 or more days
A closed hymen, blocks the menstrual flow
Period started at a young age
No children

TREATMENT OF ENDOMETRIOSIS

Diagnostic test include pelvic exam and physical exam. Other diagnostics used are Pelvic Laparoscopy (less-invasive procedure than open surgery and recovery is quicker) and Transvaginal Ultrasound. Treatment depends on severity of symptoms, age, severity of symptoms, severity of disease and whether you want children. Some technics used to control pain are exercise and relaxation technics and non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs). Prevention treatments used to stop symptoms from getting worse is birth control for 6-9 months to stop you from having a period to create a pseudo pregnancy.

Some hormonal treatments used are Progesterone injections and pills which have side effects of weight gain and depression and Gonadotropin-agonist medications. Surgery is recommended only if the individual do not want to have children in the future. This includes Pelvic Laparoscopy or Laparotomy; this procedure removed all endometrial implants and scar tissue. A Hysterectomy removes the womb (uterus), fallopian tubes, and both ovaries and gives the best chance of a cure. Not all women will have infertility. Those with milder symptoms may receive a Laparoscopy to remove scarring related to endometriosis and can improve their chances of becoming pregnant.

I fell on a bike in September 2014 and suffered a right knee injury and a tear of a ligament. I had a similar previous injury to the same knee 15+ years ago. I was a bit discouraged by the fall because this meant taking a long time for recovery and I wanted to get back to my activities and sports. There was pain, swelling, and restricted range of motion which affected my hobby of running and biking. I went to the Orthopedic Doctor and was just told to rest and not to put any pressure and allow it to heal itself. There wasn’t any other specific treatment but physical therapy, rest and don’t do anything.

On September 18, 2014, I came to Agape Acupuncture, Inc. I have a friend who really believes this should help, so based upon her opinion and trusting her judgment, I came in because she highly recommended Dr. Kevin Huang for acupuncture. I hoped it would be a faster way to heal and a more complete way to heal from the inside. I wanted my knee to strengthen and also for the pain to heal. I thought that everybody here was so friendly. Dr. Huang was very easy to talk to and everybody was so accessible.

I started feeling better a few weeks after starting acupuncture. I felt that my leg was gradually getting better and stronger. Eventually I was able to incorporate more activities - hiking and speed walking. Then I progressively started slow jogging and running. The results have been great - a very positive experience.

My family and friends were all happy for me that the treatments were successful, and I was really hopeful to have these positive results. I would recommend others to look into acupuncture as a treatment. I always tell people to try and you don’t need to be afraid of the needles. Do some research and ask the doctors themselves to get more information. And ask other people who have had natural medicine about their experience and talk to them. I firmly believe that acupuncture and herbs are very helpful. The results met my expectations of healing from the injury.

After being on thyroid medication for more than 8 years, in late June I received blood work results advising me that my thyroid readings were not within the “normal” range and I would need to increase my thyroid medication.  Possible Autoimmune disorder issues were mentioned and after seeing firsthand the results Dr. Huang had achieved on a friend’s daughter, I decided to make an appointment and give his methods a try. I was also experiencing constant UTI’s and my doctor had wanted to have me tested for Cystitis, which is inflammation of the bladder.

Dr. Huang immediately changed my diet to a simple and pure diet with supplemental herbs and treatments three times a week.  Although I have always eaten a healthy diet, the specific changes while subtle, felt restrictive at first, but as my energy increased, my hopefulness also increased. Through bloodwork tests, coordinated with my regular doctor, Dr. Huang gradually weaned me off my thyroid medication and I feel healthier and have more energy than I have had in years.
