When I was in Kindergarten, my parents noticed my face and legs swell up from water retention. After visiting a doctor, they said I had childhood onset, minimal change nephrotic syndrome.
My mom, being the research-warrior that she is, decided to take me to Agape Natural Health, and commit to a natural medicine regime: very limited sugar and salt in my foods, juicing and clean foods, plus acupuncture and herbs. I was young and couldn’t swallow the herbs yet, so we got creative and ground them up with a mortar and pistol and mixed them into applesauce.
About two years of acupuncture treatment from Dr. Huang and the staff at Agape Natural Health and lots of prayer from family and friends, I was miraculously healed. Up until that point, my body showed no signs of healing, but about three years after the diagnosis, my nephrotic syndrome completely disappeared.
July of 2017 marked the five year checkpoint without a relapse, so I was officially released from nephrotic care at CHOC Children’s hospital, the hospital that diagnosed my condition in the first place.
The doctors there were shocked and couldn’t figure out what switched in my steroid-dependent, young body. I was the first child to be released from that section of CHOC in two years. But I know that’s the healing work of God, using natural medicine, foods, and acupuncture to heal the body that He created.

Six years ago, I found myself battling HBP (High Blood Pressure) due to overwhelming stress. Then, to my devastation, shock, and horror, about three years ago, I received the diagnosis of Multiple Sclerosis—a progressive autoimmune disorder where my immune system attacks my central nervous system, causing lesions. Neurologists informed me that I had multiple lesions on my brain. The left side of my body became weak to the point where I couldn’t walk. Fatigue overwhelmed me, and simple tasks like writing became a struggle. My speech was affected, and I found it difficult to articulate my thoughts. Additionally, my vision deteriorated.
My son took me to urgent care, where the doctor provided me with crutches. I have been struggling with Systemic Sclerosis, also known as scleroderma, GERD (Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease), Anxiety, and Stress for about three years now. Systemic Sclerosis, an autoimmune disease, has particularly affected me as it causes the body to attack itself. In my case, inflammation of the esophagus, stomach pain, and constant heartburn.

While I've experienced minor GERD since September 2017, it worsened significantly three years ago. At age nine I experienced my first migraine. I have been suffering from migraines for the last seven years. The past year was especially painful. I began to experience at least one migraine each week. The pain from the migraines intensified after receiving a concussion from football.
On December 1, 2012, I went through my first acupuncture treatment. The Natural Medicine Center created a calm environment with a friendly and cheerful staff. I came to Agape acupuncture in April 2013 after years of suffering with a weak immune system and finally being told by my physician that my immune system was simply weakened and that there was really nothing they could do about it. I have dealt with a weak immune system for most of my life, suffering from colds and sinus infections as far back as I can remember, but this time it was much more serious. I had been sick for over 3 months and had lost approximately 30 lbs. I had a trip planned to Rwanda scheduled for May 24, 2013, but could not receive the recommended immunizations needed because I was too sick and on antibiotics. Dr. Kevin brought me in and looked over my medical records and asked many questions. He determined that my physicians’ were correct, but in stark contrast to my current physicians he was sure I could be healed. With great confidence he informed me that God was going to heal me and that I would be able to go on the trip to Rwanda. He prayed for me, which gave me great confidence and I began a treatment which included diet changes, herbal medicine regime and acupuncture treatment. Within two weeks I was already seeing improved health, and in a couple of months I was on my way to Rwanda.

Two years ago, I was diagnosed with fibroid tumors. I was scared and the doctors told me that surgery would be needed if it grows. Every month was very painful and my period was irregular. I had mood swings which were aggressive most of the time, and I was depressed and tired. My breasts were painful, and I had intense leg pains. I also suffered from varicose veins. This affected all aspects of my work, home life, and social life. I was insecure, and I would prefer to be by myself. The depression was so bad, and I had to see a psychologist because I would consider suicide.
