When I was in Kindergarten, my parents noticed my face and legs swell up from water retention. After visiting a doctor, they said I had childhood onset, minimal change nephrotic syndrome.

My mom, being the research-warrior that she is, decided to take me to Agape Natural Health, and commit to a natural medicine regime: very limited sugar and salt in my foods, juicing and clean foods, plus acupuncture and herbs. I was young and couldn’t swallow the herbs yet, so we got creative and ground them up with a mortar and pistol and mixed them into applesauce.

Six years ago, I found myself battling HBP (High Blood Pressure) due to overwhelming stress. Then, to my devastation, shock, and horror, about three years ago, I received the diagnosis of Multiple Sclerosis—a progressive autoimmune disorder where my immune system attacks my central nervous system, causing lesions. Neurologists informed me that I had multiple lesions on my brain. The left side of my body became weak to the point where I couldn’t walk. My son took me to urgent care, where the doctor provided me with crutches. Eventually, I was provided with a walker, but when my medication dosage was lowered. I experienced a relapse, prompting an increase in dosage. Fearing for my health, I turned to prayer, knowing that God is a healer. I have been struggling with Systemic Sclerosis, also known as scleroderma, GERD (Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease), Anxiety, and Stress for about three years now. Systemic Sclerosis, an autoimmune disease, has particularly affected me as it causes the body to attack itself. In my case, inflammation of the esophagus, stomach pain, and constant heartburn.

While I've experienced minor GERD since September 2017, it worsened significantly three years ago. In 2011, I went to Dr. Kevin Huang for acupuncture treatment. I had a light case of shingles and had a persistent nerve pain in my upper back. The acupuncture treatment did not hurt, and successfully made the back pain go away.

In the summer of 2013, I had a pain in my upper thigh from arthritis, and an itchy red heat rash on my back from the hot temperatures. Again, I went to Dr. Huang for acupuncture treatment, and the pain in my thigh and the heat rash on my back went away. A natural herbal topical cream, recommended by Dr. Huang, also helped with the itchiness and inflammation of the rash during the treatment.

Dr. Huang gave me nutritional guidelines to follow for a healthy immune system. The Natural Medicine Center is clean, the staff very caring and nice, and I always leave after a treatment with a good, healthy, calm feeling. When I was 20 years old I had Vertigo for one week. After 50 years the Vertigo has come back. Now that I am 70 years old, the Vertigo came for 3 weeks but very strong. 30 years ago I also started taking medicine for High Blood Pressure (HBP). Sometimes my head was very hot and I was sweating. During the day for a few hours, I couldn’t do anything and I just wanted to sleep. I also couldn’t exercise. With the Vertigo and HBP, I couldn’t stand up from the bed for 4 days because I was dizzy and I had headache from HBP. When I tried to find medicine for the Vertigo the doctors never offer anything but exercise for my head. They taught me how to move my head and neck. They gave me medicine for HBP and recommendations for how to relax for my head so the Vertigo don’t come back. I was taking Atenolol 50 mg for High Blood Pressure and the side effects were constipation. I still take medicine for High Blood Pressure but less dosage. The treatments the doctors recommended weren’t healing the Vertigo but it was less and made me more relaxed.

The first time I came here was September 21, 2013. A Chiropractor who use to come here referred me. I hoped to get healing from the Vertigo. My family was supportive and they had faith for my healing. The clinic is very clean and in order. I never tried Acupuncture but in Mexico, they always try to heal people with the herbs.
