For many years, I suffered from GERD (Gastro-Esophageal Reflux Disease) with pain and burning in the stomach. Coffee and tea would hurt my stomach. In June 2011, I was diagnosed with MALT Lymphoma (Mucosa-Associated Lymphoid Tissues Lymphoma). I could not believe it but I had to do everything I could, I am a RN (Registered Nurse) and I was still working, but this affected my work psychologically. I had to watch what I ate and I used diet supplements. My MD prescribed antibiotic treatment for H. Pylori for two weeks. I also used homeopathic remedies. In September 2011, I had an ultrasound and was recommended to have chemotherapy but I refused. After the prescribed treatments, there were some improvements shown through Endoscopy but the pathology was the same.
When you are diagnosed with something like this and trying everything, you are desperate. I began to research natural medicine, found the Natural Medicine Center on the internet and I tried it. In August 2010, I was diagnosed with Pancreatic Cancer and it spread to my liver. In September 2010 I had surgery to remove the tumor. My eyes were yellow. I felt like I was hit by a train at 200 mph and this illness changed my life completely. It affected my state of mind knowing that the outcome for 95% of the people with this same disease die within the first year. I was a very active person with interests for doing different things. It was like someone came and extinguished my light for life. I no longer had an interest to keep going forward. In October 2010 I had Whipple surgery (also known as pancreaticoduodenectomy - this procedure involves removal of the head of the pancreas next to the first part of the small intestine. It also involves removal of the duodenum, a portion of the common bile duct, gallbladder, and a portion of the stomach. Surgeons then reconnect the remaining intestine, bile duct, and pancreas.) From April 2011 – August 2012 I was put on chemotherapy. The side effects from Chemotherapy were numbness in my feet, nausea, and sores in my mouth. It was really bad and painful. The Chemotherapy was supposed to wipe out the tumor but it grew.
Two years ago, I came to see Dr. Kevin Huang. But I was skeptical and didn’t trust natural medicine, so I decided to do the Whipple surgery and Chemotherapy instead. The drugs and surgeries failed and my cancer went from Stage 1 to Stage 3 and it spread to the liver. I wasn’t a firm believer in natural medicine before coming here and I wasn’t sure that acupuncture would help. I see light at the end of the tunnel. Natural medicine helped reduce my tumor. The evidence is the proof. I have more energy and I lost weight. My friends and loved ones are happy for me, and I have already referred someone to Agape Acupuncture. Two years ago, I was diagnosed with fibroid tumors. I was scared and the doctors told me that surgery would be needed if it grows. Every month was very painful and my period was irregular.
