When I was in Kindergarten, my parents noticed my face and legs swell up from water retention. After visiting a doctor, they said I had childhood onset, minimal change nephrotic syndrome.

My mom, being the research-warrior that she is, decided to take me to Agape Natural Health, and commit to a natural medicine regime: very limited sugar and salt in my foods, juicing and clean foods, plus acupuncture and herbs. I was young and couldn’t swallow the herbs yet, so we got creative and ground them up with a mortar and pistol and mixed them into applesauce.

Six years ago, I found myself battling HBP (High Blood Pressure) due to overwhelming stress. I have been struggling with Systemic Sclerosis, also known as scleroderma, GERD (Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease), Anxiety, and Stress for about three years now. Systemic Sclerosis, an autoimmune disease, has particularly affected me as it causes the body to attack itself. In my case, inflammation of the esophagus, stomach pain, and constant heartburn.

While I've experienced minor GERD since September 2017, it worsened significantly three years ago. In November 2017, a few months after having back surgery, I noticed my left foot showed “drop foot.” My left foot would occasionally fall which made walking difficult without a cane or walker. It caused my social drinking life to slow down because I wasn’t comfortable being around friends with my drop foot. After several testing, I was diagnosed with peripheral neuropathy.

I started with physical therapy in hopes to improve my drop foot. After six months, it helped a little, but it didn’t provide as much improvement since they didn’t seem to know how else to help me with my condition. I also tried massage therapy, and that did not help either, but the massage therapist did recommend that I try acupuncture. So, I searched on the internet for an acupuncture clinic and came across Agape Acupuncture, which lead me to schedule a consultation with Dr. Huang. 

On August 9, 2018, I had a consultation with Dr. Huang. I expressed my struggle with peripheral neuropathy on my left foot and how it has impacted my personal life and social life. Dr. Huang recommended acupuncture treatments and provided me with a dietary guideline to help me improve my health. After a few weeks of treatments, I noticed an improvement in my drop foot.

At first, I didn’t know much about acupuncture or was a firm believer in natural medicine. My family and friends were excited and very encouraging for me to try acupuncture out in hope to improve my drop foot and to have a normal life again. After eight months of acupuncture treatments and following the dietary guidelines that Dr. Huang recommended, I was able to walk again!  Acupuncture helped me get my life and social life back. My cholesterol numbers are all within the normal range, too.”

Last July 24h, four days before I was to return home to Canada, I was diagnosed with Congestive Heart Failure in the ER of Hoag Hospital in Irvine. What I thought was an asthma attack turned out to be far worse. At 52, I neither smoked nor drank nor indulged in any other bad habit that could lead to CHF. What I did have was hypertension, which I thought was controlled by Perindopril. I was wrong. In my four day stay at the hospital: (1)I lost 25lbs. of water; (2)I learned my heart's ejection function was on at 30%; and, (3) I suffered from chronic kidney disease caused by CHF. I felt so weak and scared. I was also cramping all over my body which made moving very difficult and painful. The cardiologist gave me 4 different types of meds for my CHF, 2 meds for gout (the unfortunate side effects of CHF medications) and magnesium pills for the cramping. My water intake was controlled. And I was placed on a low-salt diet-2000mg a day.

In August, as soon as I was stable, my older sister and brother-in-law took me to see Dr. Kevin Huang. Right away his warmth and kindness made me feel comfortable. His office staff was courteous, professional and accommodating.

After a month of acupuncture I felt my strength return slowly but surely. My gout attacks, controlled. The cramping went away. By the second month, my comprehensive blood test results showed my body was functioning at a near normal state. I and my family started calling Dr. Huang, The 'Kevinator”- bringer of health and balance. By the third month, my echo cardiogram showed a 38% marked improvement in my heart's ejection fraction! My cardiologist was pleasantly surprised at the 8 point uptick in a short period of time and advised me to “continue whatever it was I was doing.” My sister called it the “Huang Effect.”

It is December now and my most recent blood test results showed NORMAL numbers for my kidneys and liver. My cholesterol numbers are all within the normal range, too. On August 7th, 2018, I was diagnosed with vertigo. For ten days, I felt so dizzy that it made me feel sick. The dizziness made it difficult for me to eat; it caused me to vomit. It was severe that I had to go to the emergency room. The doctor did an MRI scan and referred me to see an optometrist and sent me away with medication for my symptom. When I went to the eye doctor, they checked my vision and prescribed me with glasses because my vision was blurry. But wearing glasses did not help with the symptoms I was experiencing. So I went to my family doctor, and they examined my ears and diagnosed me with vertigo. My family doctor told me that there is no cure for vertigo and the best they could do for me was prescribed some medication alleviate my symptoms. I took the medication as directed; every six hours or when I felt sick but the medication did not help.

Vertigo affected my life in every aspect. I was not able to do anything at home and work. Vertigo changed my sight the most that I couldn't perform regular tasks. It made it difficult for me to concentrate because I was constantly dizzy and unbalanced that I had a difficult time walking. I felt tired and nausea, it made me vomit, it blurred my vision, and I had no balance. 

I always wanted to try acupuncture because I believed in a natural way to treat your health. My wife was supportive of my decision to try acupuncture since she noticed that drug medicine wasn't helping me. I searched on the internet for the nearest acupuncture clinic near me. I came across Agape Natural Health of Orange County and made an appointment to see Dr. Huang in seeking to get better because there was nothing modern medicine has to offer to help with my vertigo. 

On August 18th, 2018, during my first visit to the clinic, I noticed there were a lot of people getting treatments, and the office was clean. I met with Dr. Huang, and he recommended that I do a combination of acupuncture, herbal medicine, and change my nutrition and diet. I proceeded with the acupuncture treatment right away because I wanted to get better. Within two weeks of acupuncture treatments, taking herbal supplements for my liver and lungs, and changing my diet, I was feeling better. My vision and balance got better without getting dizzy. 

Coming into Agape Natural Health, all I wanted was to feel better. After following Dr. Huang instruction with acupuncture, taking herbal medicine, and taking care of my diet, I no longer have vertigo. I am blessed and happy with the result I received, especially my wife, she is happy because I can go back and have a normal life. Dr. Huang is awesome! He treated my dad a couple of years ago. My dad suffered depression because of his immune system being very low. I remember being in and out of the hospital because of his symptoms. He was unable to swallow liquids and food. He would get panic attacks and feel like he was unable to breathe. He would always be so tired and sometimes he would pass out. He lost weight do to him not being able to eat. He was scared to be alone so someone had to always be with him at all times. Doctors tests would come out fine. Many times they would just recommend a psychologist because they would say my dad was fine. That's when my dad walked in to see Dr. Huang, he immediately started treating him and my dad started to feel better. Today my dad is back to normal thanks to God first and for Dr. Huang who was always there for my family through that time. I learned a lot from the time my dad was recovering and learned that even though doctors might tell us we are fine, but if our bodies are not feeling well then there is something wrong. I became a firm believer in holistic medicine since then. Dr. Huang also treated my acne, something products did not do for me. I tried so many products and my face was getting dried and scarred. After treatment with Dr. Huang I stayed acne free majority of the time. I get one here and there now but nothing compared to what I use to have. The staff is amazing and the environment is relaxing!

CLINICAL EXPERIENCE | STAGE 4 CANCEROUS BRAIN TUMOR | FREE FROM CANCER | God’s Providence and His use of Acupuncture via Dr. Huang to Prompt Healing

On May 3, 2011 I was diagnosed with a Stage 4 cancerous brain tumor. This was totally unexpected for I never had headaches or symptoms that would have led me to believe something was amiss until the last few weeks of April 2011. At that time I was having an equilibrium problem as well as headaches. I was living up north in Walnut Creek, CA with my wife but had been having follow up appointments at UCI Medical Center for a previous bout with sinus cancer in 2002. That surgery was done at UCSF Medical Center in San Francisco but because of a job transfer to Southern CA my follow up was done at UCI. I was in Tustin visiting family when I saw my ENT at UCI and told him of my symptoms he suggested a CT scan, which I had, and it revealed the tumor. I was back in Walnut Creek when the results of the scan were made known to me.

On May 3rd my wife and I rushed down to UCI and I was admitted and after more testing it was determined that it was Stage 4 Cancer. The surgical removal of the tumor took place on May 5th. In God’s providence the timing of all this and the success of the surgery was a blessing from
Him to say the least. The Doctors at UCI were puzzled trying to determine where these tumors had come from. The pathology reports from the tumor indicated it was the same type as colon cancer. I was sent to the Oncology Doctor to begin an aggressive Chemotherapy treatment. Pet scans reveled five tumors, four in my lungs and one near my liver. The chemo really began to wreck havoc on my body not only from the residual effects of the treatment but because of the previous sinus cancer surgery and radiation in 2002 another problem arose. The scar tissue in my mouth which hadn’t given me a problem for years was affected and the mouth / jaw began to swell and close up. I couldn’t speak or eat without pain and I was losing weight at an alarming rate.

Thus enter Dr. Huang. A friend of my daughters had told her of the amazing results she experienced at NMC and my daughter suggested maybe acupuncture might help. I was desperate and had been asking the Lord to give me guidance as to what I should do. I wanted to be in the center of His will and knew He could heal me outright or use Doctors and medicine to accomplish His will for me. In His providence He led me to meet with Dr. Huang and I was so impressed with his professionalism and that of his staff that I knew God had led me to NMC. So what happened? Through acupuncture, the care of Dr, Huang and his staff, the herbs and teas I took and a special cancer preventative diet here is what transpired:

• I was able, through acupuncture, to weather the onslaught of the chemo with better than expected recovery between chemo infusions and the acupuncture kicked my immune system into gear.
• My mouth began to heal and I was, in a matter of months, able to speak clearly and eat without pain.
• With the combination of excellent medical care at UCI and the care from Dr. Huang and his staff I am now, on March 5, 2012, free from cancer and on a fast recovery
track.

I thank the Lord each day for the gift He has given to Dr. Huang to use acupuncture to bring additional healing to me according to God’s will.

I recommend Dr. Huang and Dr. Yeh. They are professional, friendly and caring. I researched many places and ended up coming here because they have a good reputation in the area and are known for their medical expertise. I recovered quicker than expected and after just 1 month of following their directions on diet, lifestyle and taking herbs and getting acupuncture treatments, my elevated liver enzymes and high cholesterol and high triglycerides are normal. The results are amazing!

ABOUT DR. YEH | YEH CENTER | MEET THE OWNER | Dr. Janet Yeh graduated Summa Cum Laude and holds a Doctorate of Science degree in Nutrition Counseling. She is a medical acupuncturist and herbalist. Dr. Janet Yeh majored in biology at the University of California, San Diego. During that time, she worked in the UCSD Medical Center in the pediatrics department as well as in the Scripps Memorial Hospital Emergency Room. Dear Dr. Kevin Huang,
    
I am writing you this letter, about 3 years ago, I was at your office and I brought my son Randy who was involved in drugs, I tried to get help with his regular Dr. I even went to the hospital, but with no success, I was so worried and desperate, I didn’t know where to go. So I was walking by Dr. Huang’s office and we stopped by in soon enough we ask if he could see us and than he saw my son and started helping him with herbs and talking to him and brought his spirits up after awhile he stopped all the bad stuff that he was taking, the herbs started helping him until now he’s working and going to school, he is doing much better now thanks to Dr. Kevin Huang.
