The Syndrome of Sciatica could affect the quality of your life. The sciatic nerve is a large nerve that runs alongside the hip joint down to the lower limb. It runs all the way from the lower back to the feet on both sides of the body and supplies sensation to those areas. In January 2017, I went to see a neurosurgeon, went through MRI and was diagnosed with TN. He gave me several options including open surgery from the back of my skull, and this freaked me out. Patient CJ came into Agape Natural Health seeking for treatment to relieve his back pain and sciatic nerve pain due to two bulging discs, a condition in which the inner portion of the intervertebral disc that provides shock-absorbing cushion begins to protrude from the outer wall of the disc, in his lumbar region. CJ was experiencing lower back pains that radiated down to the back of his left leg. Unknown to his condition, he went to his primary care orthopedic doctor to get his back checked out. After performing a magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), his orthopedic physician confirmed that CJ has two bulging discs in his lumbar region. CJ developed his condition as a contractor that does continuous heavy lifting of objects that puts strains to his body. Over time and with age, the intervertebral discs begins to wear and tear and starts to dehydrate, and the cartilage stiffens that causes the disc to bulge and put pressure on the surrounding nerve root. His orthopedic physician recommended taking nonprescription pain medication to alleviate the pain and rest to reduce the amount of stress that is put on the spinal cord to allow the bulging disc to decrease and to prevent further compression to the spinal nerve. A bulging disc takes about six weeks to recover with limited posture movements; however, in some cases it can take longer. In his early sixties and a person with diabetes with a high level of glucose and poor blood circulation, CJ was prone to slower healing. Therefore, it would take longer to recover from bulging discs compared to a non-diabetic individual.

After a week of suffering from back and leg pains, CJ was referred to Agape Natural Health by a friend who was troubled about his health. On June 20, 2017, CJ came in for a consultation to discuss his health concerns to Dr. Huang - how his bulging discs has affected his job performance, unable to complete tasks such as moving and lifting, his personal life of not being able to sleep at night, how walking has become challenging that prevented him from getting his daily exercise. The back pain and sciatic nerve were intolerable that over the counter pain medications weren’t helping him get any better. Dr. Huang recommends that he does a combination of acupuncture treatment and natural herbal medicine to restore his balance and promote healing. CJ decided to proceed with the acupuncture treatments and natural herbs right away. CJ followed Dr. Huang’s recommendation, and within the first week of treatment, his back pain was 25-30% better from the initial day he came into Agape Natural Health. Five years ago I woke up in the morning and I can't walk due to swelling and stiffness on the knee. My primary doctor referred me to a specialist. The first week of February I had my first appointment with Dr. Huang. I needed a wheelchair and had great pain and difficulty getting on the table. I have had severe migraines for over 19 years, which started when I was 10 years old. My migraines came frequently and I have suffered so much pain for all those years. Every time I would have my migraine attack my left eye would hurt so bad, unbearably, and I would keep on vomiting for days which would sometimes make me dehydrated. Most doctors of course prescribed the usual medications, saying that there is no cure, only pain management, and most recently I have had to make several trip to urgent care.

Our 4 years old son started having stomach pains. We went to a doctor and was given antibiotics for a week. When the pain did not go away, we did x-ray and ultrasound. The diagnosis was constipation without obstruction. For several weeks, we changed his diet, gave him supplements to help him go. He would go 2-3x a day with good amount but the pain remained. We went to see different doctors and a gastro pediatrician but they have no answers except to put him in Miralax everyday.

I suffered from a rash on the stomach, which was red in color. There was itching and I was worried about the rash. For 10 years, since my sophomore year in high school, I suffered from Temporomandibular Joint (TMJ) Syndrome. I really did not know what it was, and the only way to fix it was by surgery. I was scared and upset. In my junior year of high school, I had the surgery. Two years later, I had another surgery. I had to sleep with a mouth guard, and I would wake up in the morning with a sore jaw and neck. After each surgery, I could not eat for 2 weeks and the recovery was long.

This condition was very painful, and I also had bad headaches as a result of this. My jaw would pop open if I was talking or opening my mouth. The surgeries did not work, and the doctors wanted to do a 3rd surgery, but I refused. The doctors prescribed pain pills and anti-inflammatory medications, which I took. I had massage therapy and I went for physical therapy for 3 months. It was fine for a couple of months, but it came back – the snapping of my jaw and headaches came back. The treatments did not work and did not take care of the problem.

For 16 years, I suffered from fibromyalgia, chronic fatigue and chronic muscle, joint and nerve pain. I also had severe migraines. 6 months ago, it was discovered that I had spinal problems and the doctor wanted to put a screw between my vertebrae and my nerves would be severed. I had muscle spasms and restricted movement, and I was always extra careful on everything that required movement. I could not exercise.

I was on a lot of drug medications and I tried a lot of medications prescribed by my primary physician, my neurologist, and the orthopedic doctor. I took drug medications like it was candy. I was on anti-inflammatory drugs, muscle-relaxers and pain killers. I had physical therapy, but my condition would worsen. I had a lower back surgical procedure that was a nerve block. There were no results from the treatments and medications.

On July 2, 2005, the Lord guided me to the Natural Medicine Center. Out of thousands of clinics, the Lord found this place and my daughter and I are here. My family was very supportive. The clinic is very friendly, homey and relaxing, and I loved the cleanliness of the office. I started getting acupuncture treatment and herbal medicine.

I suffered from severe back pain due to a herniated disc from a back injury on August 2, 2002. I thought that I would be in pain for the rest of my life and be on pain killers forever. I was not able to work since the injury and I was not able to go out. I could not lift anything, clean my house, or fix my meals. I could not sit for a very long time and I was in bed most of the time because of the pain. Socially it affected me a lot since the injury and I was very lonely.

I went to the orthopedic doctor who wanted to shoot my back with steroids and I didn’t want that. The doctor put me on pain killers and Effexor, which made me sleep and I was not able to make any logical decisions or thoughts. I also had chiropractic work done, which gave me some relief but didn’t get rid of the pain. And because I have arthritis, it made the pain worse. The results were not good.

On August 30, 2004, I came to the Natural Medicine Center. I looked it up in the yellow pages and the clinic was close to home. I wanted to be pain free and able to sit for a long period of time without pain. I did not tell anyone I was coming here except my grandsons and one is a medical student and he was very supportive. They both thought it was a wonderful idea.

For 25 years (from 1980 to 2005), I suffered from migraine headaches which were tied into my menstrual cycles. I suffered to the point of being non-functional. I missed work and social events and couldn’t plan any family events. I would be in darkness. I had excruciating pain and nausea, and I would throw up.

I went through all treatments and tried all medicines and nothing worked. I tried every migraine pill and medication on the market including Imitrex, Zonegran (an epileptic seizure medication) and Relpax. I was groggy from the medications and the drugs also gave me nausea.
