“I never imagined that a routine injection of medication from another doctor would lead to such a challenging health issue at the age of 73. After receiving the shot, I experienced a negative side-effect: shingles. In November 2017, a few months after having back surgery, I noticed my left foot showed “drop foot.” My left foot would occasionally fall which made walking difficult without a cane or walker. It caused my social drinking life to slow down because I wasn’t comfortable being around friends with my drop foot. After several testing, I was diagnosed with peripheral neuropathy.
I started with physical therapy in hopes to improve my drop foot. After six months, it helped a little, but it didn’t provide as much improvement since they didn’t seem to know how else to help me with my condition. I also tried massage therapy, and that did not help either, but the massage therapist did recommend that I try acupuncture. So, I searched on the internet for an acupuncture clinic and came across Agape Acupuncture, which lead me to schedule a consultation with Dr. Huang.
On August 9, 2018, I had a consultation with Dr. Huang. I expressed my struggle with peripheral neuropathy on my left foot and how it has impacted my personal life and social life. Dr. Huang recommended acupuncture treatments and provided me with a dietary guideline to help me improve my health. After a few weeks of treatments, I noticed an improvement in my drop foot.

NUMBNESS OF THE LEGS | I HAVE STEADILY REGAINED FEELING | NEUROPATHY, MOBILITY AND INJURY
My name is J.L., and I’m 72 years old. In recent years, I had experienced (and mentioned to my doctor) frequent and gradually increasing numbness in my legs and feet. Thankfully, no pain. Then in 2013 I experienced 3 accidental falls over the course of one year. Although I addressed these injuries and resolved them through acupuncture and physical therapy, the resultant lack of confidence/fear of falling began to significantly impact my mobility and willingness to venture out.
Meanwhile, the neuropathy progressed. I am not diabetic, and an ultrasound ruled out arterial narrowing, but nonetheless my legs were often numb and felt very unstable. By now I was relying on a cane, and then a walker, even to move a short distance in my home. I decided to try acupuncture to regain the feeling in my legs. In November of 2017, I met with Dr Huang and he expressed his firm belief that he could help me. I began treatment 3 times a week (acupuncture supplemented by his recommended herbal medicine) and I have steadily regained feeling – and some strength – in my legs, which has enabled me to start physical therapy to be able to eventually walk without assistance or fear.
In the meantime, my primary care doctor referred me for the first time to a neurologist for evaluation. On May 3 the clinical evaluation of Dr. at Health Care Partners was that my neuropathy is very mild. I am sure that reflects the improvement for which I credit Dr. Huang.
