I started going to Agape Acupuncture on November 6th 2017 primarily for my facial paralysis along with high blood pressure, diabetes, high cholesterol and gastritis as my secondary illness. I was first diagnosed on November 1st of 2017 and suffered no more than week before seeing Dr. Huang for my medical conditions. After hearing the news, I was scared and worried that my facial paralysis was not going to get cured. I had a hard time drinking water, communicating with people and I didn’t want to go outside so I decided to stay home most of the time, it was very depressing for me. I sought much help from conventional doctors and all they would do was prescribed me pills. It was then that my son stepped in and researched other alternatives for me. He stumbled across many testimonies at Agape Acupuncture that resembled a lot of what I was going through and after seeing the photos, and reading other people’s story myself I was absolutely convinced that Dr. Huang was able to help. It was not long after seeing Dr. Huang that I started to see results and feel better. Hi Dr. Huang, I hope you have been well. This review is long overdue but I promised I'd get it over to you so here it is: I woke up one morning and noticed whenever I tried to close my right eye it would stay slightly open. Since I hadn't been sleeping well I just thought it was something that would go away with some rest. I went to bed that next night and even though my eye stayed slightly open I felt like I got a good night's rest, just to wake up the next morning with my eye open a little more. I pointed it out to my wife who thought I was messing with her but then once she realized I was serious she went to Google - Bell's Palsy. We read that it was something that would heal itself over time or Google also suggested if we went into a doctor a steroid shot might help. Not wanting a steroid shot, I figured I'd try my other option and wait it out.
Over the next couple of days the palsy spread from my right eye to the entire right side of my face. I had no movement but I still had feeling. It was definitely a conversation starter, I told really good pirate jokes, and I literally had a fun side and a serious side. All joking aside, I felt like there had to be a better option than just waiting it out.
We found Dr. Huang online and after reading many reviews about people who were successfully treated for Bell's Palsy, we gave him a call. His staff was kind from the beginning. Our initial consultation was done over the phone and he explained how acupuncture and herbs would help the nervous system to heal in my face and he was confident he could help me make a full recovery. I went in for my first round of treatments and it was the first time in a few days that I could sense my muscles again. I'm not saying I got movement back immediately, but before the treatment the muscles on the right side of my face felt like they were gone. It is a hard sensation to explain unless you've felt it yourself. With each subsequent visit that feeling of sensing muscles and eventual movement grew stronger.
By the time I completed my treatment plan a little over a month later I was at least 98% better. Dr. Huang explained that the last 5% of the healing process is what takes the longest time. The following weeks I was 100% better and back to my normal functioning self. I can push out air in my cheeks and hold my breath, I can swish water around in my mouth and it doesn't drip out, I can smile evenly, I can raise both of my eyebrows together, I can whistle, and the best part ... In October 2013, I went to soccer practice and the next morning I woke up with Bell’s Palsy. I wasn’t working because of a bone fracture and when I started work again this happened. My life was different because I didn’t feel half of my face. I stopped doing sports. I never heard about something like this and it was terrible. I go to the doctor and he tells me it’s Bell’s Palsy. The doctor told me to protect the eye because I couldn’t close it. The doctor prescribed B12 Vitamins and Vital Supplements because they were thinking I had a virus. He said take the vitamins and I’ll see you next week. But I didn’t go a second time. I started taking the supplements and I stopped the same day because my friend told me about acupuncture.
I asked my friends what’s the best way to treat it and my wife’s friend said acupuncture and 6 days later I was here. November 7, 2013 I started coming to Agape Acupuncture. The website on the internet prompted me to come here. I checked the website and there were testimonials of others with Bell’s Palsy. I expected everything to be ok and 100%! I was a firm believer in natural medicine before coming here and my friends and family were supportive. My mom always takes natural medicine and that’s why I know it helps people. My mother, in Poland, had acupuncture a few times. I believed in natural medicine but didn’t have acupuncture before. This is my first time to have acupuncture, and I also took herbal medicine and followed a diet and nutrition guideline.
