I came to get treatment mostly for my acne. My face was always so dry, and washing my face made it worse from all the chemicals and creams I would use. For my acne I used a lot of facial treatments, creams and pills. The creams caused my face to get very red, dry, and peeling. It was horrible with make-up as well. I would break out even worse. The treatments were not working at all! I kept looking for medical treatments that would be not so strong for my face since it was peeling already from the use of so much chemicals. I almost had laser removal but was too scared and I heard many people comment about it not working. My face kept drying and peeling. In addition to the acne, I was also feeling really lethargic – always wanted to sleep and had no energy for the most part. I wanted to do much more in a day but every time I would come home from work I was always going straight to bed to take long naps. By the time I was up from my nap, it was too late. My dad and boyfriend knew it would help me and some of my friends were surprised that acupuncture worked. I would refer others there and I have referred my mom and dad already. I was diagnosed with PCOS (Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome) 2 years ago and I have been struggling with acne and hormone problems for years. I had depression, fatigue, hair loss and my cycle was 19 days instead of 28 days. I had loss of sleep, weight loss, high testosterone (androgen) and an ovarian cyst burst. I was on antibiotics, bio-identical hormones, different natural remedies. I was prescribed hormone replacement, but it did not work for me. I also tried acne topical medications and a testosterone blocker. I was on birth control for 6 years. Afterwards, my body was out of whack. I had a little hope in the acne clearing up but I was discouraged about the PCOS. The acne was due to PCOS and it got worst when I got off the birth control. I was lethargic and stayed away from friends and events. At work, I was always tired and I also lost work due to ovarian cyst bursting. I was in and out of the hospital. I suffered from Fibromyalgia with body pains. I had weakness, fatigue, tiredness, headaches and trouble reading due to my eyesight. I couldn’t work and my social life was non existent. I had to quit school. I was lying in bed and wasn’t able to do anything for about a year.
For my condition, I saw a neurologist, dermatologist and physical therapist. I was prescribed anti-depressants for fatigue, and I underwent physical therapy treatments for about 2 months. The medical doctors prescribed medications such as Migrin A, Tramadol, Diclofenac, and Effexor. I took drugs and was still not able to do anything. I was frustrated and needed help for my condition.
