At four months old, my son developed eczema on his cheeks. When he was old enough to crawl, it spread all over his neck, arms, and legs. He was covered in big, red spots that inflamed throughout his body. His skin was dry, flaky, and scaly that looked and felt like an alligator. There was not a spot on his arms, hands, and leg that wasn't eczema. Everything I did for my son did not help. He was miserable. His eczema kept him up all day and all night, causing him to be restless. I was restless, too.
When his pediatrician told me that it was just a baby rash, which is common in infants, it will eventually go away. Since it didn't go away and it came back worse than before, that was when his pediatrician diagnosed my son with eczema. Temperature Control and Regulation
In a sense, the body is a small universe with a heat and energy giver, exemplifying the sun within a solar system. The hypothalamus of the brain acts as a “thermostat” to control body temperature. This homeostatic mechanism maintains 37 degrees Celsius (or 98.6 degrees Fahrenheit) in a healthy person. It not only controls the external temperature but also internal temperature of important organ systems.
When the body is exposed to a cold environment and the temperature begins to drop, the hypothalamus senses this change and triggers heat-generating and heat-conserving activities. Small groups of muscle cells are stimulated to involuntarily contract - an action called shivering. These muscular contractions produce heat, which warm the body. At the same time, blood vessels within the skin also constrict to reduce blood flow, which allow heat to be retained in deeper tissue.

Similarly, if a person becomes over heated, the temperature control center of the brain triggers a series of changes that promote loss of body heat. Sweat glands in the skin are stimulated to secrete watery perspiration. As the water evaporates from the surface, heat is carried away and the skin is cooled down. At the same time, the brain center causes blood vessels in the skin to dilate. This allows the blood that carries heat from deeper tissue to reach the surface where more heat is lost to the outside. Also, the brain center stimulates increased heart rate, causing a greater volume of blood to move into the surface vessels and an increase in breathing rate allowing more heat carrying air to be expelled from the lungs.
The 14 vertical organ systems (female reproductive, male reproductive, liver, gallbladder, heart, small intestine, pericardium, lymphatic, stomach, spleen, lung, large intestine, kidney, and urinary bladder) have different internal temperatures, as do the seasons. If there is an imbalance of internal environment, the organ systems show different symptoms or illnesses. WHAT IS ECZEMA?
Eczema is a chronic inflammatory skin condition that leads to red, dry, and itchy skin. The cause of eczema is unknown. Eczema is linked to an over-active immune system. The immune system is triggered by a substance inside or outside of the body. When the substance stimulates the body, the immune system responds by producing inflammation. Eczema is commonly found in children but can occur in adults. They tend to flare up periodically on the face, inside the elbows and the knees, and on hands and feet. After years of having stomach digestion issues due to a stomach gas infusion during a surgery, 2016 was a very hard year for me. I had two infections in my body and my immune system went out of control not knowing which infection to heal: my stomach not digesting the food/having pain under my right rib or a face infection getting worse with heat and dust; it was like everything affected my face. I went to see 2 dermatologist, one endocrinologist, one GI doctor and I received many comments from about 6 other different doctors. I had 10 medical test, from a face Biopsy to hormones test, nothing seemed to be out of control except that my blood was very thick and my white cell counts were going down while my red cells began to lose their shape due to the infection but there were no traces of the infection source. Nobody knew from where the infection was coming from.
Even when I didn’t take medicine for the past 15 years; now every prescribed medicine I took made my hands and legs swollen, the creams and topical ointments prescribed made my face worse and itchy, flaky or dry. I felt without drive and hopeless; my immune system was getting weaker and weaker as the Summer rose. I had my stomach inflated and swollen under the rib and in constant pain; I wasn’t digesting oils, protein, and eating spinach, meat, potatoes or Cilantro would make the face flare, depending on what I had ingested the pain increased or decreased.
Constantly in the morning time I woke up with swollen fingers and hand’s articulations pain, as I am a pianist by profession, those mornings were devastating. A bump in my eyelid began to grow, I began to feel disoriented and dizzy, unable to concentrate.
One night I said good bye to my husband, I felt like I was going to die. We prayed together and we ask for God’s will. I had the option to fly to the South of Mexico but we were concerned about my body’s weakness and the polluted air during the flight.
More than 10 doctors said that stomach and face are not related but my family doctor had a different approach, he was sure that the face infection was coming from the stomach; we had Ozone therapy and other natural medical treatments; with constancy the redness in the face was less intense, the pain was coming and going; but even when I was feeling better I wasn’t healing, those remedies worked to a certain point, not cured after all.
The medical bills began to increase until the moment when I was unable to pay more treatments.

I know that I still need time for my immune system to be cured, healed and stronger but I also need to pay all those expensive medical bills. I need to come back to Dr. Huang and his friendly staff to complete the healing recovery road but that will be my next story.
