THE IMMUNE SYSTEM

The immune system is an integral part of the human body. It consists of lymphoid tissue, bone marrow, lymph nodes, thymus, tonsils, and parts of the spleen organ system and gastrointestinal (GI) tract. The immune system facilitates the body and protects it from pathogenic factors such as viral infection, bacterial infection, abnormal growths, cancer cells, parasitic invasion and foreign proteins. The immune system produces antibodies to protect the body from foreign antigens. It can also engage in a process of phagocytosis in order to engulf and destroy bacteria and various toxic substances that are foreign to the body.

IMMUNE DISORDERS

Immune disorders develop when the immune system does not fight abnormal growths or harmful substances as it should: either in an under active manner (Immunodeficiency) or in an overactive manner (Overactive Immune System). Immunodeficiency disorders are able to affect any part of the immune system, and most often it occurs when specialized white blood cells - T and/or B lymphocytes do not work as well as they ought to, or when the body does not produce enough antibodies. Immune system diseases include frequent or chronic illness, certain disease development, and increased risk for Tumors, Cysts, Neoplasms, asthma, allergies, sinusitis, post nasal drip, rhinitis, sore throat, bronchitis, pneumonia, tuberculosis, mononucleosis, chronic fatigue syndrome, eBV, fibromyalgia, cold and flu, viral infections, viral meningitis, viral herpes, Fungal Infections, bacterial infections, cystitis and bladder infections, and urinary tract infections. An overactive immune system cannot distinguish between foreign antigens and the body’s own constituents. As a result, it attacks a part of itself (Autoimmune Diseases).

I had been suffering from inflammation and infection throughout my body and was taking a lot of antibiotics along with two stays in the hospital in 2019. I was found to have Colon Cancer and had the surgery to remove a section of my Colon. As a precaution the Oncologist strongly suggested chemotherapy. I agreed and began the series of infusions. However, they did not test for an enzyme in my blood saying it was rare and I suffered from unrelenting nausea for 20 straight days with little relief. I returned to the hospital and spent almost two weeks trying to diagnose the problem. The doctors advised that my immune system was destroyed by the chemotherapy and the inflammation was back. After almost two weeks of three antibiotics and several other medications and flushing my systems I recovered. I had lost a lot of weight, was extremely weak and advised to stay away from people due to my weak immune system. I was staying at home for months except for the doctor visits with a very slow recovery. 

My daughter told a colleague at work of my situation and she recommended Dr. Huang who had done wonders for her family. My daughter T took me to meet Dr. Huang and he seemed to really understand my situation. He said the priority was to help my immune system recover and bring my strength back to all my systems. During the following months I continued to get stronger and did not experience any signs of inflammation or urination problems like I had experienced in the earlier stages.

I have since had a biopsy of my Prostate and there is no signs of Cancer. On August 11, 2013, a patient came into Agape Natural Health seeking help because he was suffering from pneumonia, a chronic infection that inflames the air sacs of his lung. The patient found out he had pneumonia during his visit to the Orange County hospital for hiccups and coughs. The modern medicine doctor prescribed the patient with antibiotics and anti-inflammation to help with pneumonia. The patient took the prescription drugs for several weeks, but his health condition did not improve. He experienced more coughs and produced more mucus than before. His cough was so severe that it disturbed his sleep during the night. He became so congested that it gave him headaches and pain in his ear, nose, and throat that results in difficulty breathing. He would occasionally have the hiccups that would last for hours or even days. With all the conditions the patient experienced, it lowered his energy level causing him always to be tired. The antibiotic and anti-inflammation that the modern medicine doctor prescribed him did not elevate any of his pains or symptoms; it just made the condition worse.

I was first diagnosed with Psoriatic Arthritis about 13 years ago, and then was diagnosed with Lymphoma beginning of 2016. I became very stressed out when I learned of my condition. My ankles, knees, wrists, and elbows were badly affected. I was a teacher and needed accommodations to transit when I was in school, such as needing rollers on my stools so I didn't have to stand whenever I was helping my students. I first noticed unusual pain as the first symptom. I would still exercise, but I could not do yoga, pilates, spin classes, or any fitness classes that involved bending of my joints because it would put too much pressure on my joints.

My dad had Psoriasis and suffered severely; 95% of his skin was covered with psoriasis and there was no cure to it. He tried taking medicines and treatments but did not get better. I wish I could have prevented it early. I took different kinds of medications such as Enbrel for Psoriatic Arthritis that was prescribed by my rheumatologist. It is a weekly injection, and I took it for 12 years. The side effect of this drug was Lymphoma (a type of cancer). I had surgery in my neck and they found a small lymph that looked suspicious. It was at that time that I stopped taking Enbrel. I was also taking Methotrexate, and it raised my liver count. Methotrexate is a form of low dose chemotherapy, an immunosuppressive agent, that is very toxic for the liver. I still see my rheumatologist every 3 months plus getting blood work done. I thought the medications were working, they are very costly. I would spend about $1700 a month on the Enbrel shots. If I had to do it over again, I would do a more natural approach. The medications that I was taking weakened my immune system, and drug side effects was the reason for me getting diagnosed with lymphoma.

I became more aware and knowledgeable about natural treatments, did some research and on February 9th, 2016, I started coming to Agape Acupuncture to get acupuncture treatments and herbal medicine. After years of having stomach digestion issues due to a stomach gas infusion during a surgery, 2016 was a very hard year for me. I had two infections in my body and my immune system went out of control not knowing which infection to heal: my stomach not digesting the food/having pain under my right rib or a face infection getting worse with heat and dust; it was like everything affected my face. I went to see 2 dermatologist, one endocrinologist, one GI doctor and I received many comments from about 6 other different doctors. I had 10 medical test, from a face Biopsy to hormones test, nothing seemed to be out of control except that my blood was very thick and my white cell counts were going down while my red cells began to lose their shape due to the infection but there were no traces of the infection source. Nobody knew from where the infection was coming from.
     
Even when I didn’t take medicine for the past 15 years; now every prescribed medicine I took made my hands and legs swollen, the creams and topical ointments prescribed made my face worse and itchy, flaky or dry. I felt without drive and hopeless; my immune system was getting weaker and weaker as the Summer rose. I had my stomach inflated and swollen under the rib and in constant pain; I wasn’t digesting oils, protein, and eating spinach, meat, potatoes or Cilantro would make the face flare, depending on what I had ingested the pain increased or decreased.

Constantly in the morning time I woke up with swollen fingers and hand’s articulations pain, as I am a pianist by profession, those mornings were devastating. A bump in my eyelid began to grow, I began to feel disoriented and dizzy, unable to concentrate.

One night I said good bye to my husband, I felt like I was going to die. We prayed together and we ask for God’s will. I had the option to fly to the South of Mexico but we were concerned about my body’s weakness and the polluted air during the flight.

More than 10 doctors said that stomach and face are not related but my family doctor had a different approach, he was sure that the face infection was coming from the stomach; we had Ozone therapy and other natural medical treatments; with constancy the redness in the face was less intense, the pain was coming and going; but even when I was feeling better I wasn’t healing, those remedies worked to a certain point, not cured after all.

The medical bills began to increase until the moment when I was unable to pay more treatments.

I know that I still need time for my immune system to be cured, healed and stronger but I also need to pay all those expensive medical bills. I need to come back to Dr. Huang and his friendly staff to complete the healing recovery road but that will be my next story.

CROHN’S DISEASE | My Son's Story

“Once natural medicine began, he started to improve day by day and within weeks he had gained back all the weight he had lost (30-35 lbs)! By December 2009 he was off all medicine drugs and has been symptom free (healed from Crohn’s Disease) since 2009!... He’s back to normal and has been for 4 years now!”

In January 2009, my son began to vomit all meals and began to have stomach aches and pains. He was diagnosed with Crohn’s Disease in March 2009. I never even knew what Crohn’s Disease was. I was shocked anyone in my family even had a disease. We were always so healthy. No one in our family was ever sick from anything before this, but that was always because my mom (his grandmother) always fed the family fresh organic foods and plenty or vitamins. When he started getting stomach aches, I always noticed at dinner time when he would stop mid-meal, not move, and trying to will away his stomach pain. He became increasingly unable to eat. He ate less and less and less. He was increasingly angry and short-tempered. This illness not only limited his food but it affected his relationship with the family negatively. The Intestinal Doctor says he would have this disease for the rest of his life and be on these drugs for years; that there was no cure but we could manage the disease.

My son was so sick and because he’d lost so much weight, he looked malnourished. He started taking the steroids and that decreased the inflammation in his small intestine and he was so happy that he could eat, that he sat down and ate raw vegetables but then he saw the pizza everyone else was eating. He had been so famished that he dove right into the pizza and that night he suffered from the worst most severe stomachache he had ever had! We rushed him to the hospital where they diagnosed him with a bowel obstruction. His small intestines had inflamed and completely shut down. So they put him on a much greater dosage of steroids and morphine for the pain. After the hospital increased his dosage, his legs became so weak that he went down in P.E. It scared the doctor so bad that he weaned him off of them 10 mg/day until he was at zero. We wouldn’t do their treatments. We just went there to get diagnosed but it took so long he lost 15 lbs. Once he gave in to take their drugs, he ate like a starving person and ended up in the hospital with a bowel obstruction.

Once released from the hospital we came to see Dr. Huang at Agape Acupuncture where he had acupuncture 3 times a week, took herbal supplements and changed his diet. He cut out all processed foods, ate more healthy and began to gain his weight back. He became a happy boy. We weaned him off the steroids and other medicine that modern medicine told us he’d be on for years. They even wanted to put him on Leukemia medication and I didn’t want to destroy his liver by medicating his intestines that way. I send every sick person I know to Dr. Kevin Huang because I know the benefits. I used to come to the Saturday classes when Dr. Huang held them. I loved the classes. They made the body so comprehensible. I was a firm believer in natural medicine but because of ignorance I had no views. I never knew there were alternatives or I would’ve come here in 1987, when I needed help with a horrible skin condition after getting out of the hospital for a terrible infection. Change your diet, take supplements, drink tea and get acupuncture. My son was healed because he no longer eats the nasty processed foods that gave him Crohn’s Disease in the first place. He’s back to normal and has been for 4 years now! He’s made friends and is in college now. My son became “happy” once he started getting better. Lack of nutrition had affected his brain function and he was angry all the time. The staff is wonderful, kind caring people who recognize you and call you by your first name. They’re knowledgeable, helpful, kind, always smiling and non-judgmental. I wasn’t sure what to expect because modern medicine said there was no cure but that was because they didn’t know what caused it. I just knew that Dr. Kevin Huang would know what to do and what to tell us and that his “only” chance, besides praying 24-7, was coming to natural medicine and be treated.

I feel 1000% happy! I wish I could talk to thousands of other Crohn’s patient mothers. I would refer everyone who has a “supposed” disease because it works and I have referred dozens of people. By December 2009 he was off all medicine drugs and has been symptom free (healed from Crohn’s Disease) since 2009! I had everybody praying for him. I hoped to cure, heal and get my son back.

It was a sweet day of touring and communion at the Garden Tomb.
I have been so blessed and never had any limitations.

Two and half years ago I had a foot injury. It was a contusion, later developing joint pain. From this first injury it appeared to move around my foot, to drop foot-(balance), then partial tear around ankle area. I went to two different physical therapist, still having very much inflammation and discomfort. My daughter seeing I was suffering with terrible pain (a 7 out of 10) suggested I try acupuncture.

As God would have it he ordered my steps and directed also confirmed I was to see Dr. Kevin Huang I felt so comfortable and pleased with his care. He is not interested in just the injury but the the total body health. I am almost pain free, have reduction of inflammation and increased mobility.

I appreciate the care Dr. Kevin Huang has provided. I would recommend Agape and Dr. Huang to anyone who has a injury or a health concern. Thank the Lord for this direction & healing
