THE IMMUNE SYSTEM

The immune system is an integral part of the human body. It consists of lymphoid tissue, bone marrow, lymph nodes, thymus, tonsils, and parts of the spleen organ system and gastrointestinal (GI) tract. The immune system facilitates the body and protects it from pathogenic factors such as viral infection, bacterial infection, abnormal growths, cancer cells, parasitic invasion and foreign proteins. The immune system produces antibodies to protect the body from foreign antigens. It can also engage in a process of phagocytosis in order to engulf and destroy bacteria and various toxic substances that are foreign to the body.

IMMUNE DISORDERS

Immune disorders develop when the immune system does not fight abnormal growths or harmful substances as it should: either in an under active manner (Immunodeficiency) or in an overactive manner (Overactive Immune System). Immunodeficiency disorders are able to affect any part of the immune system, and most often it occurs when specialized white blood cells - T and/or B lymphocytes do not work as well as they ought to, or when the body does not produce enough antibodies. Immune system diseases include frequent or chronic illness, certain disease development, and increased risk for Tumors, Cysts, Neoplasms, asthma, allergies, sinusitis, post nasal drip, rhinitis, sore throat, bronchitis, pneumonia, tuberculosis, mononucleosis, chronic fatigue syndrome, eBV, fibromyalgia, cold and flu, viral infections, viral meningitis, viral herpes, Fungal Infections, bacterial infections, cystitis and bladder infections, and urinary tract infections. An overactive immune system cannot distinguish between foreign antigens and the body’s own constituents. As a result, it attacks a part of itself (Autoimmune Diseases).

TESTING FOR THE IMMUNE SYSTEM

Testing for Immune System Components include T and B Cell Counts, Lymphocyte Transformation Test, Immunoglobulins G, A, M, Immune Complex Test, and Complement Test. I came to Agape acupuncture in April 2013 after years of suffering with a weak immune system and finally being told by my physician that my immune system was simply weakened and that there was really nothing they could do about it.  I have dealt with a weak immune system for most of my life, suffering from colds and sinus infections as far back as I can remember, but this time it was much more serious.  I had been sick for over 3 months and had lost approximately 30 lbs.  I had a trip planned to Rwanda scheduled for May 24, 2013, but could not receive the recommended immunizations needed because I was too sick and on antibiotics. Dr. Kevin brought me in and looked over my medical records and asked many questions. He determined that my physicians’ were correct, but in stark contrast to my current physicians he was sure I could be healed.  With great confidence he informed me that God was going to heal me and that I would be able to go on the trip to Rwanda.  He prayed for me, which gave me great confidence and I began a treatment which included diet changes, herbal medicine regime and acupuncture treatment.  Within two weeks I was already seeing improved health, and in a couple of months I was on my way to Rwanda.
