When I was in Kindergarten, my parents noticed my face and legs swell up from water retention. After visiting a doctor, they said I had childhood onset, minimal change nephrotic syndrome.
My mom, being the research-warrior that she is, decided to take me to Agape Natural Health, and commit to a natural medicine regime: very limited sugar and salt in my foods, juicing and clean foods, plus acupuncture and herbs. I was young and couldn’t swallow the herbs yet, so we got creative and ground them up with a mortar and pistol and mixed them into applesauce.
About two years of acupuncture treatment from Dr. Huang and the staff at Agape Natural Health and lots of prayer from family and friends, I was miraculously healed. July of 2017 marked the five year checkpoint without a relapse, so I was officially released from nephrotic care at CHOC Children’s hospital, the hospital that diagnosed my condition in the first place.

We hope that daily structure of time will be evaluated to see if better balance could be achieved and restored in our daily routine with the principle of 8-8-8. The manner in which we choose to live life and the patterns that are developed are very important in the outcome of health and wellness. Many things we do in our lives require structure and balance in order to create the best environment to nurture health and wellness.. Much of what we do occur in the lifestyle that we set as a pace for how we run our lives, our household, and modeling that for family and children. THE IMMUNE SYSTEM
The immune system is an integral part of the human body. It consists of lymphoid tissue, bone marrow, lymph nodes, thymus, tonsils, and parts of the spleen organ system and gastrointestinal (GI) tract. The immune system facilitates the body and protects it from pathogenic factors such as viral infection, bacterial infection, abnormal growths, cancer cells, parasitic invasion and foreign proteins. The immune system produces antibodies to protect the body from foreign antigens. It can also engage in a process of phagocytosis in order to engulf and destroy bacteria and various toxic substances that are foreign to the body.
IMMUNE DISORDERS
Immune disorders develop when the immune system does not fight abnormal growths or harmful substances as it should: either in an under active manner (Immunodeficiency) or in an overactive manner (Overactive Immune System). Immunodeficiency disorders are able to affect any part of the immune system, and most often it occurs when specialized white blood cells - T and/or B lymphocytes do not work as well as they ought to, or when the body does not produce enough antibodies. Immune system diseases include frequent or chronic illness, certain disease development, and increased risk for Tumors, Cysts, Neoplasms, asthma, allergies, sinusitis, post nasal drip, rhinitis, sore throat, bronchitis, pneumonia, tuberculosis, mononucleosis, chronic fatigue syndrome, eBV, fibromyalgia, cold and flu, viral infections, viral meningitis, viral herpes, Fungal Infections, bacterial infections, cystitis and bladder infections, and urinary tract infections. An overactive immune system cannot distinguish between foreign antigens and the body’s own constituents. As a result, it attacks a part of itself (Autoimmune Diseases).

I came to Agape acupuncture in April 2013 after years of suffering with a weak immune system and finally being told by my physician that my immune system was simply weakened and that there was really nothing they could do about it. I have dealt with a weak immune system for most of my life, suffering from colds and sinus infections as far back as I can remember, but this time it was much more serious. I had been sick for over 3 months and had lost approximately 30 lbs. I had a trip planned to Rwanda scheduled for May 24, 2013, but could not receive the recommended immunizations needed because I was too sick and on antibiotics. Dr. Kevin brought me in and looked over my medical records and asked many questions. He determined that my physicians’ were correct, but in stark contrast to my current physicians he was sure I could be healed. With great confidence he informed me that God was going to heal me and that I would be able to go on the trip to Rwanda. He prayed for me, which gave me great confidence and I began a treatment which included diet changes, herbal medicine regime and acupuncture treatment. The Oncologist told me I had CIN1 (vaginal cancer cells) and said to come back in 6 months. Then after that time if it had advanced to the CIN2 stage, then they would do a laser procedure that only took three seconds but was expensive and very painful so anesthesia and hospitalization is required. Being very disappointed with the lack of any helpful information I decided to do something about it myself.
A few months later at the car wash I saw their sign saying Acupuncture and Natural Medicine. I went in and enrolled on the spot. Dr. Kevin Huang said the herb was fine but not enough. He started treating me very aggressively to help strengthen the immune system.
