When I was in Kindergarten, my parents noticed my face and legs swell up from water retention. After visiting a doctor, they said I had childhood onset, minimal change nephrotic syndrome.
My mom, being the research-warrior that she is, decided to take me to Agape Natural Health, and commit to a natural medicine regime: very limited sugar and salt in my foods, juicing and clean foods, plus acupuncture and herbs. I was young and couldn’t swallow the herbs yet, so we got creative and ground them up with a mortar and pistol and mixed them into applesauce.
About two years of acupuncture treatment from Dr. Huang and the staff at Agape Natural Health and lots of prayer from family and friends, I was miraculously healed. Up until that point, my body showed no signs of healing, but about three years after the diagnosis, my nephrotic syndrome completely disappeared.
July of 2017 marked the five year checkpoint without a relapse, so I was officially released from nephrotic care at CHOC Children’s hospital, the hospital that diagnosed my condition in the first place.
The doctors there were shocked and couldn’t figure out what switched in my steroid-dependent, young body. I was the first child to be released from that section of CHOC in two years. Six years ago, I found myself battling HBP (High Blood Pressure) due to overwhelming stress. Then, to my devastation, shock, and horror, about three years ago, I received the diagnosis of Multiple Sclerosis—a progressive autoimmune disorder where my immune system attacks my central nervous system, causing lesions. Neurologists informed me that I had multiple lesions on my brain. The left side of my body became weak to the point where I couldn’t walk. Fatigue overwhelmed me, and simple tasks like writing became a struggle. My speech was affected, and I found it difficult to articulate my thoughts. Additionally, my vision deteriorated.
My son took me to urgent care, where the doctor provided me with crutches. During physical therapy, I found myself toppling over, and when I was admitted to the hospital, I underwent a five-day steroid treatment. Eventually, I was provided with a walker, but when my medication dosage was lowered. I experienced a relapse, prompting an increase in dosage. Fearing for my health, I turned to prayer, knowing that God is a healer. I have been struggling with Systemic Sclerosis, also known as scleroderma, GERD (Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease), Anxiety, and Stress for about three years now. Systemic Sclerosis, an autoimmune disease, has particularly affected me as it causes the body to attack itself. In my case, inflammation of the esophagus, stomach pain, and constant heartburn.
Scleroderma can affect any part of the digestive system, from the esophagus to the rectum.
While I've experienced minor GERD since September 2017, it worsened significantly three years ago. I was constantly plagued by heartburn, stomach pain and chest pain, and I found myself burping all day. It began to affect every aspect of my life, from work to relationships. I came to the Natural Medicine Center with a note that read “Please help me, I am in agony!!!!” Since I did not have an appointment, I thought that would get some action and it did. On February 9, 2013 I started treatments at Agape Acupuncture, Inc. for Shingles pain and nerve pain. I was in a lot of pain and I was scared. My skin was burning and I couldn’t move my left arm. It was difficult to wear a shirt. I couldn’t exercise or get out of bed. Any movements caused me pain. I was just taking drug medications prescribed by my M.D. (Neorontin 300-600 mg doses).

A little over 3 months ago I began to have terrible excruciating pain caused by Shingles. It was a constant pain and numbness. I kept doing what I would normally do, even during the pain. I was prescribed drug medicine by my medical doctor and it didn’t do anything for me. First off all, I don’t like taking pills, especially when it doesn’t accomplish anything. The medical doctor didn’t achieve anything – zero. I continued taking the drug medications until I started treatment at Agape Acupuncture on April 27, 2013.
