On February 9, 2013 I started treatments at Agape Acupuncture, Inc. for Shingles pain and nerve pain. I was in a lot of pain and I was scared. My skin was burning and I couldn’t move my left arm. It was difficult to wear a shirt. I couldn’t exercise or get out of bed. Any movements caused me pain. I was just taking drug medications prescribed by my M.D. (Neorontin 300-600 mg doses).

I came to Agape Acupuncture and started treatments on March 11, 2013 because my son referred me. Dr. Huang is experienced, the testimonials are positive, and everyone at the clinic is very helpful. In 2011, I went to Dr. Kevin Huang for acupuncture treatment. I had a light case of shingles and had a persistent nerve pain in my upper back. The acupuncture treatment did not hurt, and successfully made the back pain go away.

In the summer of 2013, I had a pain in my upper thigh from arthritis, and an itchy red heat rash on my back from the hot temperatures. About 10 years ago, an injury to my back brought on peripheral neuropathy. There was damage to the nerve (L5-S1) and lab tests confirmed these findings. I have always been very athletic and this numbness in my feet was very debilitating. From 2002-2009, I sought various therapies in Atlanta and California. I tried injections, physical therapy, acupuncture, chiropractor, and different drugs before coming to Natural Medicine --- all with no change. I couldn’t walk barefoot or wear nice shoes. I never thought that it would take us nearly four years to be able to conceive again after our first miscarriage back in 2012. We were truly heartbroken amidst the hardship and everything we went through. Not knowing that it would literally take us this long, I began to feel frustrated with little hope. What really captured my interest to pursue this even further was that this particular clinic was faith-based. I was drawn by the fact that his practice/professional work is his ministry! So, fast forward to the month of August 2015, we made an appointment to consult with Dr. Huang. I couldn’t help my tears when I was explaining to him what I’ve been through and how tough it’s been just to conceive and the worst part is, not actually knowing why as I’ve been classified as, “unexplained infertility”.

We immediately began treatment that same day and he gave us a run down about what type of foods to avoid, and that it would take about 3 months to prepare my body to conceive. At first, I thought, “seriously?” But we know that all we can do is just trust Dr. Huang’s recommendations. He also prescribed me some natural herbs to help with my blood and liver functions. The entire process takes a lot of time, patience and commitment. But the end result was definitely worth it. Nearly 5 months into the treatment, we found out early February that we’re pregnant and expecting our first child, a baby boy, due October 2016! It’s been almost a year since we began our acupuncture journey with Dr. Huang and have really enjoyed the entire process. I suffered from fibromyalgia for over 7 years, and I was diagnosed with heel spurs 3½ years ago. It started on my heels and then it went to my hip. This condition affected every aspect of my life. When I fist came to Agape Acupuncture, Inc. I had been battling with extreme pain due to being diagnosed with bulging discs in my back, shoulder injuries, ulnar nerve problems to my elbows and carpal tunnel.  I had surgery on my right shoulder with not much success I was told I needed surgery to my left shoulder, carpal tunnel surgery to both wrists and possible back surgery. I was having extreme pain where I was taking medication for pain, nerve pain pills, sleeping pills, anti-inflammatory meds, etc. I had difficulty walking, due to sciatic nerve pain which radiated down to my calf.  I walked with a limp with my left foot turned out. The only way I was somewhat comfortable walking was with Z-coil shoes, which were shoes that had a spring in them that helped to absorb the impact. I could not sit for very long.  I could not let anyone touch me as it was extremely painful. I had such extreme fatigue I could not get out of bed for very long without being exhausted again. I was not able to work for 5 years I wasn't able to live a normal life. I went through treatment with western medicine doctors with very little to no relief.

I was at my wits end and looking for other options for treatment, not wanting to go through another surgery.  I had heard about acupuncture and people having good success. My husband researched to find an acupuncture doctor and found Dr. Huang. After reviewing Dr. Huang's website and seeing Dr. Huang was a believer in Christ and didn't just do acupuncture but natural medicine, we were excited. We had always believed in natural medicine and knew it worked.  

I started coming to Dr. Huang in 2007 and found out I had fibromyalgia, Epstein Bar and a hormone imbalance. I also realized I had damaged my liver due to all the pain meds. After a few months of treatment with Dr. Huang I was able to start reducing my pain meds. Several months later I was able to sit and walk without much pain.  I advised my orthopedic doctor what I was doing and he referred me to a pain management doctor for help in getting off the pain meds. I am a strong believer in Jesus Christ and knew with God's help I could get off the pain meds.  Praise God He helped me to do just that!  

It has been an up hill battle at times to maintain my energy and eliminate my pain and return to a normal life, however after much prayer and Dr. Huang's anointing from God and wisdom in natural medicine and acupuncture I am now living a full life. I am working full time and now have my energy back. I praise God for leading me and my husband to Dr. Huang. It is such a blessing to come to the office for treatment and be able to share with Dr. Huang all that God is doing in my life with healing and blessing me with business. God is good and in the business of healing, even in our modern times. In September of 2010 I was diagnosed with kidney cancer. I was told I needed surgery ASAP. Ten days later the surgeon removed one kidney. The doctor told me I was healed, however, in April 2011 a new CT scan revealed three new cancer spots, now on my pancreas. At this time I started to look into natural solutions.

The Lord led me to Agape Natural Health. I am convinced it is the work of the Lord. I live 55 miles away and we have many doctors who practice acupuncture in our area. When my wife and I met Dr. Huang and his office staff for the first time we were convinced that this was the place we needed to come for help.

I started in May of 2011 with acupuncture, herbs and Dr. Huang gave me advice on diet and exercise. My life has changed drastically. My food intake is entirely different from what it was before, including a much more fruit and vegetables and a much healthier lifestyle overall.

In July of 2011 a new CT scan revealed that the cancer spots had disappeared. This was also true for the next several CT scans. I am on medication from the regular doctor, however, the oncologist is surprised by the progress I am making. In our last visit she told me I was in complete remission and the side effects of the medicine are minimal.

I believe this would not have been the same without Dr. Huang and his staff of dedicated people. One of the great things of this office is that Dr. Huang prays with his patients. I look forward to that moment every time I come and gain strength and courage from the idea that a doctor cares enough to pray and be personally involved in my life.

The acupuncture cancer patient found Agape Acupuncture and although the clinic was almost 60 miles from their home, they felt that they should come visit the clinic. The patient came to the clinic and started acupuncture. Dr. Kevin Huang offered the acupuncture cancer patient dietary and exercise guidelines to help the patient live a healthier life. Dr. Huang encouraged the patient to eat more fruits and vegetables and to live a healthier lifestyle. The patient followed Dr. Huang’s suggestions and continued with acupuncture.

In July of that same year, the acupuncture cancer patient went in for a CT scan and it showed that the cancer spots on his pancreas had completely disappeared. The patient was completely overjoyed and was glad to hear of the following results–several scans after that CT scan also showed the same thing. Although the patient continued on medication suggested by his primary doctor, he was told that he was in remission. His oncologist was pleased and surprised at how well the patient was doing. HOW IS ENDOMETRIOSIS TREATED WITH ACUPUNCTURE?

Endometriosis is a female medical disorder where the cells from the uterine lining (womb) grows in various parts in the body. Symptoms included infertility, irregular menstrual type bleeding, and pain. These cells are called endometrial cells and are removed from the lining of the Uterus (Endometrium) every month. In women with endometriosis tissue implants are located on the ovaries, bowel, bladder, rectum and the lining of the pelvic area and can occur in other areas of the body.  The tissue implants grow every time the woman gets her period and this causes pain and other discomfort. The endometrial cells in the uterus slough off during the normal menstrual cycle, in women with Endometriosis the tissue implants located outside the uterus stay in place.

ENDOMETRIOSIS SYMPTOMS:

The cause of this disorder in not known. It is suspected that the endometrial cells that are shed during your period travel backwards up the fallopian tubes into the pelvis where they implant and grow. This is called retrograde menstruation. This is a common this order that may run in the family. Endometriosis is usually diagnosed between age 25-35, however the condition may began when the normal period begins. Typically, a woman with a sister or mother whom has endometriosis is more likely to develop endometriosis.

TREATMENT OF ENDOMETRIOSIS

Diagnostic test include pelvic exam and physical exam. Other diagnostics used are Pelvic Laparoscopy (less-invasive procedure than open surgery and recovery is quicker) and Transvaginal Ultrasound. Treatment depends on severity of symptoms, age, severity of symptoms, severity of disease and whether you want children. Some technics used to control pain are exercise and relaxation technics and non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs). Prevention treatments used to stop symptoms from getting worse is birth control for 6-9 months to stop you from having a period to create a pseudo pregnancy.

Some hormonal treatments used are Progesterone injections and pills which have side effects of weight gain and depression and Gonadotropin-agonist medications. Surgery is recommended only if the individual do not want to have children in the future. This includes Pelvic Laparoscopy or Laparotomy; this procedure removed all endometrial implants and scar tissue. A Hysterectomy removes the womb (uterus), fallopian tubes, and both ovaries and gives the best chance of a cure. Not all women will have infertility. Those with milder symptoms may receive a Laparoscopy to remove scarring related to endometriosis and can improve their chances of becoming pregnant.

God gave me a divine appointment with Agape Acupuncture!  I was visiting family in the OC area for two weeks after needing a break from the war in my country, Israel. When I came to Dr. Huang and the team at Agape Acupuncture, I was only looking for an herbal pharmacy where I could buy an herbal tincture that was helping me to keep a recurring throat infection from taking over my health. In June 2014 I experienced a solid week of severe anxiety. I took medication, which relieved it but I felt like I could easily become dependent on it. I began acupuncture with a different provider.  After nearly three months I felt more downs than ups so as I decided to research acupuncture doctors in my area. I found Agape Acupuncture and Dr. Huang. I read the many testimonials and decided to go in for a consultation. From the moment I walked into the office I felt this sense of calmness and peace.  

I began treatment with Dr. Huang in September. I immediately felt at peace. The fact that Dr. Huang is Christian has made the experience amazing. I felt a deep connection and belief in the treatment I received.  Of course I’ve experienced a couple of setbacks.  

At one of my sessions I shared with Dr. Huang that I was about to give up - I wanted to feel better now. I was ready to go to a doctor for anxiety medication - take the easy way out; I cried and he listened. He calmed me down, talked to me, and honest to God gave me advise that I will follow for the rest of my life. Talking with Dr. Huang, taking my prescribed herbs, and going to my acupuncture sessions have all helped me cope with the things that caused me anxiety in the past.  I am true believer in natural medicine.

Recently I had a bad cold; I thought I’d take an over the counter medication; big mistake.  I felt terrible the following morning with heart palpitations that always seemed to be the onset of an anxiety attack for me. The first thing I did was drink a strong cup of chamomile tea that morning and scheduled an appointment with Dr. Huang for a treatment.  He prescribed me herbs and I honestly felt better the following morning.  All thanks to natural medicine and acupuncture.
I am currently seeing Dr. Huang for acupuncture every other week and will begin seeing him every three weeks now and continue taking herbs. On October 31, 2014, I started bleeding and then had testing done. I was diagnosed with Stage III Ovarian Cancer. I came here first for the bleeding. I knew I needed herbal medicine and acupuncture and on November 3rd, 2014, I started natural medicine treatments. Most people that know me know I do acupuncture and they also are into acupuncture. I believe in it. I used to do acupuncture; it’s good for relaxation stress release.

I had to bypass the fear that most people have and said “What do we do to fix it?” First they had to remove the growth. I had surgery on December 8th, 2014 and it was a hysterectomy. From the operation, I couldn’t do certain things, due to rebuilding myself to be able to lift and drive for a month or so. Then we had to do chemotherapy which lasted from the 3rd week of January, 2015 to May 13th, 2015. I chose the port chemo, which is the stronger one for my abdomen. Kaiser also prescribed to me stool softeners and nausea medication. I had 6 cycles each with 3 treatments of chemotherapy and then kept coming here for acupuncture 3 times a week. The acupuncture gives you that feeling of peace.

I am feeling good. Neighbors noticed how good I look and that I am strong. Chemo is very hard on the body. Everybody reacts differently. Chemotherapy breaks you down, so the acupuncture helped me from being broken down. Everybody said I look very good and that the natural medicine treatment has something to do with it. Nurses said it too. My body was strong enough to keep fighting. The acupuncture worked hand in hand with chemo and helped me balance the flow of energy to get you into that point.

The staff are all wonderful, fantastic and very caring and the clinic is well organized. I have referred my neighbor - her sister. I felt that it would help her. I always think that there are natural ways to take care of situations. I always thought to eat the right foods and you can keep yourself out of a lot of situations. The doctors also stressed diet for my condition. I encourage others to read some good information and give it a try. I’m always preaching it. Just got to believe. There’s always hope.

The tumor was the size of a 10 pound turkey. And, it had been in my neck for 11 years when I found Dr. Huang and Natural Medicine in Costa Mesa. A large part of the reason why I am alive today is because of Dr. Huang. The other reason why I am safe and healthy today is because of my belief in the power of prayer/meditation. I went to Dr. Huang to try and see if acupuncture could stop the tumor. The treatments were able to keep the mass from growing any larger, which bought me more time. In addition to arresting the growth of the tumor, the acupuncture had a positive effect on my overall health and energy.

So why did I let this condition get to this point? My reasons are something not everyone might agree with, but it was right for me. The risks were too great, according to the doctors. One doctor went so far as to say I might not survive the incision in my neck because the mass was situated below a major artery. I opted for waiting for there to be less of a risk involved. In the meantime, I kept up with Dr. Huang’s acupuncture treatments. It slowed the growth process way down and kept my energy levels high.

Then the tumor reached a critical turning point. It was ready to come out, with or without me. As strange as it was, I knew it was a blessing. That the time was right and everything would turn out alright. And, so I made the choice to go ahead with the surgery despite the risks. Just making that decision caused a great weight to be lifted off of. However, none of the doctors that we had seen were qualified to perform the surgery, because it was beyond their capability and too risky. So they transferred me to UCI Hospital, in the hopes one of the doctors there could perform the surgery.

Within 12 hours of making the decision to go ahead with having surgery, the most wonderful doctor I’ve ever met introduced himself to me. The first word out of his mouth wasn’t about the risks involved or that it was beyond his abilities. What he said to me was, “Oh yes, this is doable, nothing to it. It should take about 5 hours. Come see me tomorrow and we will get this taken care of for you.” My prayers had been answered. I found an ENT doctor who had the expertise and skill to safely remove the tumor. It was worth waiting for. Having faith and confidence in your doctor is primary to a full recovery.
