The Syndrome of Sciatica could affect the quality of your life. The sciatic nerve is a large nerve that runs alongside the hip joint down to the lower limb. It runs all the way from the lower back to the feet on both sides of the body and supplies sensation to those areas. Five years ago I woke up in the morning and I can't walk due to swelling and stiffness on the knee. My primary doctor referred me to a specialist. “I suffered from a lifetime of headaches and saw 15 medical doctors with no success.”

At 14 years of age, I started getting migraine headaches. At that time, I really did not understand - I just knew I had pain. I had family members who also suffered from this: my mother, her sister, my maternal grandmother, and on my father’s side two of his sisters. I experienced a little halo before my eyes, as it progressed a little flash of light and then I would lose my peripheral vision. The headaches affected everything, and it got to the point I was bed ridden. When my migraines come on, I would have to seclude myself in a dark room (no light) and certain odors made it worse. I saw a Neurologist who prescribed shots and prescription drugs such as Imitrex, a muscle relaxer, medication for nausea and a few others ones. I also had biofeedback therapy. From 1988 to 2011 the treatments just treated the symptoms and not the problem. I suffered from a lifetime of headaches and saw 15 medical doctors with no success.

I was looking for something other than what I was having to take - something that worked with no aftermath. On June 11, 2012 I started acupuncture, herbs and dietary guidelines with Dr. Kevin Huang at Agape Acupuncture, Inc. The office is different but educational. It is not your customary doctor office. I really did not understand natural medicine and I was uneducated about it so I really did not have any expectations. The treatments are customized for each patient and caters to the person, body and lifestyle. My friends and family were skeptical at first and now they are supportive. I have had at least 3 relatives come here for other ailments.

After a couple weeks I had more energy and I just felt better in general. In six months I have only had three headaches which were induced by coast to coast air travel. Dr. Huang also added some herbs to help me with my ever slowing metabolism rate which had caused me to never quite get past a certain point when dieting and exercising. Even though I have eaten fairly well and exercised fairly well, I was always a little overweight. With the herbs being taken after each meal I’ve been able to maintain a weight that is over 25 pounds less than when I got married in 2009. I have pictures that show me from when I was at least 42 pounds heavier than I am today. To now be stabilized at this current weight allows me to feel much better physically.

I have lived with back pain since I was in the eighth grade. Since that time I have had to go get various types of treatment such as medicinal doctors, chiropractic treatment, etc. A couple of years ago I tried acupuncture and it seemed to work better than previous treatments and I found that I may be on the right track.

Last year (2012) I happened to go through another bout of back pain which caused a lot of pain and discomfort. At the church I go to I got into a conversation with a fellow church member and friend and according to she and her daughter, the daughter was just finishing up treatment at the office of a wonderful Christian doctor named Kevin Huang, who through the use of acupuncture and natural herbs had treated the daughter for issues with her thyroid. This treatment enabled her to get off of all of her medicines and once done left no indication of thyroid problems at all. I was pretty impressed and sold once I read the actual testimony of the daughter.

After having undergone treatments of acupuncture and herbs I can say that my back has not felt this good in many years! I have had days in which my back is sore but that has always been due to having done something less than smart, such as moving something on my own without asking for help (I’m a man, that’s what we do!). The great news is that the treatment has allowed me to recover from my less than stellar decision making very quickly (within a day or two versus weeks or even over a month in the past).

I suffered from trigeminal neuralgia and headaches on and off for over 5 years. I knew there wasn’t a cure. It began because my body was weakened and stressed. I had been treated for cancer 14 years ago and had surgery, chemotherapy and radiation, which contributed to the weakening of my body.

When the neuralgia flare-ups occurred, I had a faint pain over the left side of my face and head. At its worst, I have been incapacitated for 3 to 4 days in bed and I wouldn’t be able to function. Since 2013, I experienced stomach pain below my right rib and I also suffered from depression. I was frustrated. After an ultrasound and CT scan, they didn’t find anything - only mild fatty liver. The medical doctors offered me only drugs and they recommended me to eat less acids and certain foods. But the pain was still there from July 2013 to June 2014.
