Every time we went in, we had so many questions for Dr. Huang, and he was always so patient and kind in answering us. He even took phone calls (so many calls!), and always understood our concerns. Just over a month of acupuncture, taking herbs and eating the foods Dr. Huang suggested, her rash was fading and her ankles were normal. She took blood tests and her thyroid level was normal for the first time in a year! No medications were necessary. Her iron was also normal even after stopping iron supplements-just changes in diet and getting her system healthy with acupuncture and herbs. Her low white blood cell count showed that she was still fighting the virus, which was also apparent as her energy was still low, and so we continued treatment. She slowly got back into working out with volleyball, but had to take it easy. In two and a half months, she would be leaving to the university where she would play volleyball. I was afraid she would need more time to heal after all her body had been going through, but Dr. Huang believed he could get her healthy by then.
Her next blood test was another month later, and at that point her cholesterol was down to
147. It went down over 50 points even after Dr. Huang had her add organic beef to her diet to help her iron. I asked him how it could be over 200 when she was practically a vegetarian and yet drop so much when she started eating beef. Dr. Huang explained that acupuncture and herbs were helping her liver function properly, which is a greater factor in cholesterol than just diet. The fact that my daughter was feeling better told me acupuncture was working, but seeing the blood tests was proof that it was really healing her inside. My 17-year-old daughter is an accomplished athlete who competes at a high level. At 16 she started having some health issues. Her blood tests showed that she had hyperthyroidism. Doctors wanted to put her on medication that would ultimately force her to be on medication for the rest of her life. We knew she was too young and otherwise healthy to do that, so we took her to a natural doctor who put her on vitamins to help her health improve.
About a year later, she lost a small patch of hair and we went back to the natural doctor to see what might have caused that. He took blood tests again and her thyroid was still hyper. Also her iron was low and he said she was anemic. She was often tired, but we thought it was from all the volleyball training. So she started taking iron to see if that would improve things. Strangely, her cholesterol was also high (over 200) even though she was practically a vegetarian. And her tonsils were always swollen.
After a few weeks on the iron, she came home from a volleyball tournament with swollen ankles. She thought she had double sprained ankles. Within a couple days, a dark red rash showed up on her ankles and spread up her legs to her knees. We took her to a dermatologist and he said it looked like an autoimmune response. At that point, she was also feeling really weak and she could barely walk with her swollen ankles. My husband researched her symptoms and we realized there was no known Western cure for what she was experiencing. There was only thyroid medication and steroids to reduce the symptoms, but nothing to actually heal her. So we looked up non-Western approaches to treating an autoimmune disorder, and we found Dr. Huang.
We went in scared and confused, watching our strong, healthy daughter in such a weak state. Dr. Huang seemed so confident that he could help her. He believed she had a virus (probably Epstein Bar) and her body had been fighting it since she first started not feeling well a year before. That was why her tonsils were always swollen. The virus finally took over and the autoimmune response was her immune system over-fighting until it actually attacked her own body.

She had a couple set backs along the way, but Dr. Huang was always there to help her through. Watching my daughter go through this brought on stress like I'd never felt before. I couldn't eat. I lost 10 pounds and ended up getting an ulcer. He’s back to normal and has been for 4 years now! He’s made friends and is in college now. My son became “happy” once he started getting better. CROHN’S DISEASE | My Son's Story
“Once natural medicine began, he started to improve day by day and within weeks he had gained back all the weight he had lost (30-35 lbs)! In January 2009, my son began to vomit all meals and began to have stomach aches and pains. He was diagnosed with Crohn’s Disease in March 2009. I never even knew what Crohn’s Disease was. I was shocked anyone in my family even had a disease. We were always so healthy. No one in our family was ever sick from anything before this, but that was always because my mom (his grandmother) always fed the family fresh organic foods and plenty or vitamins. When he started getting stomach aches, I always noticed at dinner time when he would stop mid-meal, not move, and trying to will away his stomach pain. He became increasingly unable to eat. He ate less and less and less. He was increasingly angry and short-tempered. This illness not only limited his food but it affected his relationship with the family negatively. The Intestinal Doctor says he would have this disease for the rest of his life and be on these drugs for years; that there was no cure but we could manage the disease.
My son was so sick and because he’d lost so much weight, he looked malnourished. He started taking the steroids and that decreased the inflammation in his small intestine and he was so happy that he could eat, that he sat down and ate raw vegetables but then he saw the pizza everyone else was eating. He had been so famished that he dove right into the pizza and that night he suffered from the worst most severe stomachache he had ever had! We rushed him to the hospital where they diagnosed him with a bowel obstruction. His small intestines had inflamed and completely shut down. So they put him on a much greater dosage of steroids and morphine for the pain. After the hospital increased his dosage, his legs became so weak that he went down in P.E. It scared the doctor so bad that he weaned him off of them 10 mg/day until he was at zero. We wouldn’t do their treatments. We just went there to get diagnosed but it took so long he lost 15 lbs. Once he gave in to take their drugs, he ate like a starving person and ended up in the hospital with a bowel obstruction.
Once released from the hospital we came to see Dr. Huang at Agape Acupuncture where he had acupuncture 3 times a week, took herbal supplements and changed his diet. He cut out all processed foods, ate more healthy and began to gain his weight back. He became a happy boy. We weaned him off the steroids and other medicine that modern medicine told us he’d be on for years. They even wanted to put him on Leukemia medication and I didn’t want to destroy his liver by medicating his intestines that way. My Name is Austin. I am 19 years old and I was diagnosed with Ulcerative Colitis in 2006 when I was 12 years old. Ulcerative Colitis (UC) is an Auto-Immune Disease that attacks the colon and causes severe diarrhea and bleeding.
