On February 1st, 2013, patient RF came into Agape Natural Health seeking help for his anxiety, a mental health disorder characterized by an excessive feeling of worry, or fear that is strong enough to interfere with one’s daily activities, and for insomnia, a persistent problem of falling or staying asleep.

RF developed anxiety and insomnia during his early teen years when he experienced chest pain between the age of six through twelve years old. His chest pain would cause him to have shortness of breath and severe stinging pain as if a sharp stab to his chest with a dull ache. Unknown to his chest condition, over time, RF developed anxiety that accompanied by insomnia that prevented him from living his everyday life.

During RF initial consultation, he addressed his health concerns to Dr. Huang. RF experienced severe anxiety that caused him to have panic attacks, a sudden period of intense fear that triggers severe physical reactions when there is no real danger or apparent that provoked his heart to palpitate, have chest pain, sweat and shortness of breath with no control. His anxiety caused him to feel restless and fatigued that prevented him from sleeping and staying asleep. As Dr. Huang listened to RF health concerns, he recommended RF to take herbal supplements to improve his health and restore his balance. Dr. Huang also recommends that RF to follow-up once a week to see his progress. 

By consuming the herbal supplement as directed by Dr. Huang, RF did not experience any side effects. Unlike modern medicine, RF primary doctor prescribed him with Zoloft, a generic medication sertraline hydrochloride that is a selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor (SSRI) that slows the reabsorption of the chemical serotonin in the brain. In hopes that Zoloft would help with his anxiety disorder, however, it's side effects caused RF to feel more tired, anxious, and sweat which interrupted his sleep. After a week of taking his herbal supplements daily, RF states that he hasn't had an anxiety attack or heart palpitation throughout a week.  

Over time, Dr. Huang increased RF herbal dosage, and as RF continued to take his herbal supplements and did his weekly follow-up as directed by Dr. Huang, RF health has tremendously improved each week as he visited the office. Each week RF returned to Agape Natural Health for his follow-up with Dr. Huang, we noticed a slight difference in his appearance. RF seems more relaxed compared to the first day where he looked uneasy, tense and weary.  His heart palpitation diminished, his severe anxiety subsides to where he has control of his life, and his insomnia is no longer present that he was able to sleep better than ever. By taking herbal supplements daily, it maintained RF health by strengthening his body to restore its chemistry. It also promoted healing and restored his balance to live a healthy lifestyle from anxiety and insomnia.

HOW IS HIGH FSH INFERTILITY TREATED WITH ACUPUNCTURE AND HERBAL MEDICINE?

HIGH FSH INFERTILITY:
Follicle-stimulating hormones (FSH) is an essential hormone for the reproductive system. FSH is release from the anterior pituitary gland controlled by the hypothalamus that stimulates follicle production and maturation of sex cells. FSH levels vary in aging. Women in their early adulthood have a lower FSH level with higher ovarian reserve compared to a woman in their mid-adulthood. As the women age, their FSH levels begin to rise, increasing their FSH levels and decreasing their ovarian reserve. High FSH levels reduce the number of follicles and egg maturity in the ovaries resulting in an abnormal egg development that lower the chances of conceiving, miscarriage, and infertility. 

HIGH FSH INFERTILITY SYMPTOMS
Symptoms that may indicate high FSH infertility are similar to premature ovarian failure and menopause. They may experience irregular periods, hot flashes and night sweats, headaches, visual impairment, hormonal deficiencies, and difficulty conceiving.

Risk Factors are:
Between 35 and 40 years old
Family history of premature ovarian failure 
Endometriosis 
Poor egg quality
Radiation exposure
Alcohol abuse 

TREATMENT OF HIGH FSH INFERTILITY
There is no treatment for high FSH level. Instead, dehydroepiandrosterone (DHEA) hormone is primarily used at a fertility clinic to treat women with diminished ovarian reserve (DOR). The female body converts DHEA androgen (male hormone) into testosterone hormone to increase the chance of pregnancy by in vitro fertilization (IVF). DHEA works by assisting in spontaneous conceptions, shortening time to pregnancy, increase quality and quantity of eggs and embryos, decrease the risk of miscarriage, and improve cumulative pregnancy rates. However, women with high FSH level require blood work to determine if they qualify for IVF and may undergo a series of DHEA treatments before IVF. The side effects of DHEA in women may include acne, hair loss, upset stomach, high blood pressure, facial hair, deepening of the voice, fatigue, nasal congestion, headache, palpation, and insomnia.

HOW IS AUTISM TREATED WITH ACUPUNCTURE?

AUTISM

Autism spectrum disorder (ASD), also known as autism is a neurodevelopmental impairment that weakens the ability to communicate and interact with others. It is a broad spectrum of symptoms and severity that an individual with autism experiences skill strengths and level of difficulties differently from most people. The mind of an individual autism function in ways that prevent them from entirely understanding social cues, making eye contact, and holding a conversation. They also have difficulties in developing a cognitive mind, motor skills, and language. Some individual with autism may require a considerable amount of assistant to perform daily living. AUTISM SYMPTOMS

Signs of an individual with autism are separating themselves from social interaction and being obsessively focused on certain object and have repetitive behaviors. Depending on their severity, it can affect differently in areas of functioning. Their eye contacts may be minimal or inconsistent with no cue of acknowledgment of listening. They may have difficulties in reciprocating, slow or fail in responding when called by name, body expression does not match with the language being expressed, having a singsong, flat, or robot-like voice, getting upset with slight changes, repeating words, and sensitive to noise, objects, or the environment.

More significantly in boys developing ASD than girls

TREATMENT OF AUTISM

There is no cure for autism. Medication and therapies are used to help individuals with autism. Medications are created to treat the common behaviors in autism by decreasing their irritability, repetitive behavior, attention problems, and anxiety and depression. Varieties of therapies are designed to help an individual with autism to develop and improve social and language skills, learn life-skills to be independent, and decrease behaviors challenges. However, depending on their severity, not all medication and therapies are effective towards every individual with autism.

ACUPUNCTURE AND HERBS FOR AUTISM | We kept trying to find ways to help them with other alternatives. We worked on their diet and gave them no more fast food. We enrolled the boys in speech therapy classes. We were doing everything but we were seeing little results and just not much improvement.

In August, 2005, we came to the Natural Medicine Center because we were hopeful that the boys’ condition could get more improvements. The medical staff was very welcoming, friendly and nice, and all my questions were answered. The promptness of the response was very impressive. They began acupuncture and herbs, and they changed their diet. The staff is good with the kids.

We noticed that the boys became more reactive and more alert. They think more and are able to better express their feelings and thoughts. They are saying more words and using more sentences. They are happier, eating better and sleeping better. There is a better outlook for the future and an improved quality of life. I feel that there is hope in their future. The school also noticed the differences and our older son is going to regular kindergarten.

It’s a miracle! The treatments have changed our lives and the boys’ lives and I would definitely refer others. I would encourage others to have faith and I would share my story. Natural medicine definitely helps heal and improve the quality of life, and I am a firm believer in it.

ULCERATIVE COLITIS:
Ulcerative colitis (UC) is an autoimmune disease that causes inflammation and ulceration to the inner lining of the colon (large intestine) and rectum. They are a chronic disease, also known as inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) that have similar symptoms as Crohn’s disease but only occur in the colon. Due to abnormal responses by the body’s immune system, it produces irritation to the inner lining of the colon, causing prolonged lasting inflammation that ultimately leads to ulceration. Ulcerative colitis does not occur suddenly in an individual; the symptoms are developed over time and causes individuals to have flare-ups intermittently. A continuous inflammation of the lining of the colon may increase the chances of developing colon cancer.

ULCERATIVE COLITIS SYMPTOMS
The cause of ulcerative colitis is unknown. Typically, the body’s immune system would fight off any infection the body encounters. However, UC patient’s white blood cells (WBC) that naturally defend the body from any foreign pathogens would mistakenly think food, good intestinal bacteria, and the cells lining of the colon as invader and would send a response to phagocyte (engulf and destroy) bacteria and other foreign materials resulting in chronic inflammation and ulcerations inside the surface of the colon. Symptoms of UC include bloody diarrhea, rectal bleeding, an urgency to defecate and inability to defecate, abdominal and rectal pain, fever, fatigue, anemia, loss of appetite, and weight loss.

Risk Factors are:
Individuals with an overactive intestinal immune system
Inherit gene with ulcerative colitis
Ulcerative colitis generally occurs in both sex between the ages of 15-30 and 60+
Higher risk for Caucasian than any other race

TREATMENT OF ULCERATIVE COLITIS
There is no cure for ulcerative colitis. Ulcerative colitis is treated with multiple drugs or surgery. Doctors would prescribe UC patients with an anti-inflammatory drug to reduce the inflammation, immune system suppressor to suppresses the WBC response to prevent inflammation, and other drugs such as antibiotics, anti-diarrheal medication, pain reliever, and iron supplements to aid in the symptoms UC has caused in the colon. However, not all drugs will work for every individual, and depending on the severity, surgery is required. There are multiple ways surgery can be performed for patients with UC. Surgery can consist of removing part or the entire colon (large intestine and rectum) and reconstruction the small intestine forming a J-pouch to collect stools that are attached to the anus or create an opening in the abdominal for stool to be released. 

ACUPUNCTURE TO BENEFIT ULCERATIVE COLITIS
Acupuncture and herbal medicine induce homeostatic response on the cellular level by influencing the body’s internal organs to correct imbalances in their digestion, absorption, and energy production activities. They stimulate the central nervous system to release chemicals in the muscles, spinal cord, and brain. These chemicals will change the experience of pain, or they will trigger the release of other chemicals and hormones which influence the body’s own internal regulating system. Acupuncture helps ulcerative colitis by reversing tissue damage and reduces inflammation and improves their quality of life. Acupuncture is safe and painless. There are no drugs or hazardous equipment used, and no surgical operation performed.

CASE STUDIES:
According to the Healthcare Medicine Institute, a study has shown that acupuncture helps to eliminate ulcerative colitis. An experiment was conducted on ulcerative colitis patients that were randomly divided into two groups. Results show that group A patients that did a combination of acupuncture combined with herbal medicine and drugs had a total effective rate of 93.1% with 56 days of required care compared to group B patients who only received drugs had an overall effective rate of 75.86% with 81 days of care needed.

Stepping into Agape Acupuncture for the first time, the thing that struck me the most was the beauty of the clinic. Then, the friendly staff greeted me and brought me in for my first treatment. That was two years ago and I have been going in for acupuncture treatments ever since. When I first came in to the clinic, I had just finished a battle with Leukemia (AML with a FLT 3 mutation) and had to undergo three rounds of chemo and two bone marrow transplants because the first one had failed. 

I still remember when the doctor said I’d have only two months to live. As a result of all this strain on my body, I came out cancer free, but with chronic graft vs host disease. I had low platelets which resulted in constant bloody noses that were pretty annoying to deal with on a day to day basis. To deal with this, my doctors required me to get weekly platelet infusions just to keep my platelets around 20 which is still very low. I also had a damaged liver and my overall facial complexion was much darker than normal. 

After coming to Dr. Huang, for treatment, my platelets, liver enzyme levels, and complexion have all gotten better, confirmed by doctor, blood work and lab results. I have definitely been able to enjoy life much more because of this. When I first got here, I constantly worried about the next time I’d get a bloody nose out of nowhere because they took a while to stop or if my facial complexion looked fine. Now, I feel much more relaxed about my nose and facial complexion since they have both recovered close to normal, which makes me excited for the future. I haven’t even had to get a platelet infusion in a very long time! This place is amazing and life changing! I brought my mom here when her health got really bad. The doctors wanted to put stints and she was on about 15 different medications. We discovered Dr. Huang over six years ago when our 17-year-old daughter's health dramatically declined. Initially we didn't understand what was happening to her, but based on her blood tests and symptoms it was determined that she had an autoimmune condition. I first started coming to Dr. Huang in October of 2017. I had been suffering with desquamative inflammatory vaginitis or chronic vaginitis in general for 4 1/2 years. I kept getting misdiagnosed for the first 2 years with my medical doctor and the last 2 1/2 years, my OB helped with the symptoms, but never knew why I was still experiencing moderate symptoms. I was constantly prescribed with drugs or creams that never got to the root of the problem and stopped working. Finally, I was fed up and started looking at alternative options. Dr. Kevin Huang and his staff are dedicated to providing the best alternative health care that I wish were more common place in today's modern medicine system.  

I came back after almost 10 years because I was desperate for an alternative solution to my acid reflux.  I'm glad I did!   It's been three weeks, and my condition is improving steadily.

This place is amazing!!! For 6 long months, I was covered head to toe in hives everyday. I went to so many doctors and allergy specialists just trying to figure out why they just randomly appeared one day when I have never had any allergies before! After all those tests, medications and diet changes, nothing helped so they just gave me a bunch of drugs to keep them from driving me crazy. But im so happy to say that just  after two months of acuptutre and herbs they are almost completely gone! I had struggled with a bad case of Eczema, in which itchy red sores appeared all over my skin. After visiting five different doctors over the course of a year, I found that none of them could help me. “After a month of acupuncture I felt my strength return slowly but surely. My gout attacks, controlled. The cramping went away. By the second month, my comprehensive blood test results showed my body was functioning at a near normal state. My cholesterol numbers are all within the normal range, too.”

Last July 24h, four days before I was to return home to Canada, I was diagnosed with Congestive Heart Failure in the ER of Hoag Hospital in Irvine. What I thought was an asthma attack turned out to be far worse. At 52, I neither smoked nor drank nor indulged in any other bad habit that could lead to CHF. What I did have was hypertension, which I thought was controlled by Perindopril. I was wrong. In my four day stay at the hospital: (1)I lost 25lbs. of water; (2)I learned my heart's ejection function was on at 30%; and, (3) I suffered from chronic kidney disease caused by CHF. I felt so weak and scared. I was also cramping all over my body which made moving very difficult and painful. The cardiologist gave me 4 different types of meds for my CHF, 2 meds for gout (the unfortunate side effects of CHF medications) and magnesium pills for the cramping. My water intake was controlled. And I was placed on a low-salt diet-2000mg a day.

In August, as soon as I was stable, my older sister and brother-in-law took me to see Dr. Kevin Huang. Right away his warmth and kindness made me feel comfortable. His office staff was courteous, professional and accommodating.

After a month of acupuncture I felt my strength return slowly but surely. My gout attacks, controlled. The cramping went away. By the second month, my comprehensive blood test results showed my body was functioning at a near normal state. I and my family started calling Dr. Huang, The 'Kevinator”- bringer of health and balance. By the third month, my echo cardiogram showed a 38% marked improvement in my heart's ejection fraction! My cardiologist was pleasantly surprised at the 8 point uptick in a short period of time and advised me to “continue whatever it was I was doing.” My sister called it the “Huang Effect.”

It is December now and my most recent blood test results showed NORMAL numbers for my kidneys and liver. My cholesterol numbers are all within the normal range, too. I first visited Dr. Huang when I developed pain in my neck after exercising for P.E. I had waited a few weeks to see if it would go away, but it didn't. My mom had even taken me to see a chiropractor who specialized in the neck, but due to the amount of x-rays he wanted to take, my mom did not feel comfortable. As a result, she took me to see Dr. Huang.

Dr. Huang was very warm and welcoming. He even prayed over me before he started the first treatment of acupuncture. After about three treatments with acupuncture, herbal medicine, and essential oil, my neck pain disappeared and did not return.

Fast forward a few months later, towards the end of my sophomore year in high school, I started feeling anxious and stressed. My body felt weak, and emotionally I started feeling down. I just wanted to start off by saying that I'm pretty careful about who I recommend and want to see results before I start recommending people to anyone. I was pretty skeptical about acupuncture in the beginning and wondered if it was actually effective for someone's health. I would often be skeptical about everything Dr. Huang said and wondered why he was so confident in whatever information he gave me about my health. My name is J.L., and I’m 72 years old. In recent years, I had experienced (and mentioned to my doctor) frequent and gradually increasing numbness in my legs and feet. Thankfully, no pain. Then in 2013 I experienced 3 accidental falls over the course of one year. Although I addressed these injuries and resolved them through acupuncture and physical therapy, the resultant lack of confidence/fear of falling began to significantly impact my mobility and willingness to venture out.

Meanwhile, the neuropathy progressed. I am not diabetic, and an ultrasound ruled out arterial narrowing, but nonetheless my legs were often numb and felt very unstable. By now I was relying on a cane, and then a walker, even to move a short distance in my home. I decided to try acupuncture to regain the feeling in my legs. In November of 2017, I met with Dr Huang and he expressed his firm belief that he could help me. I began treatment 3 times a week (acupuncture supplemented by his recommended herbal medicine) and I have steadily regained feeling – and some strength – in my legs, which has enabled me to start physical therapy to be able to eventually walk without assistance or fear. 

In the meantime, my primary care doctor referred me for the first time to a neurologist for evaluation. On May 3 the clinical evaluation of Dr. at Health Care Partners was that my neuropathy is very mild. I am sure that reflects the improvement for which I credit Dr. Huang. When I first came to Agape Natural Health in November, I would have never felt ready or able to start physical therapy. In addition to clinical excellence, I am so grateful to Dr. Huang and his entire staff for their kindness, spiritual support and continual encouragement. Infertility is the term referring to the biological fact that a person is unable to conceive. It is a word that is also used to describe a woman who has frequent miscarriages and is unable to carry a baby to full term. Reproductive conditions and fertility issues are often treatable. The World Health Organization (WHO) provides this definition of infertility: “Infertility is the inability to conceive a child. A couple may be considered infertile if, after two years of regular sexual intercourse, without contraception, the woman has not become pregnant (and there is no other reason, such as breastfeeding or postpartum amenorrhoea). Primary infertility is infertility in a couple who have never had a child. Secondary infertility is failure to conceive following a previous pregnancy. Infertility may be caused by infection in the man or woman, but often there is no obvious underlying cause.”

In female fertility, the causes may include: PCOS (Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome), Interstitial Cystitis (IC), Endometriosis, Hormonal Disorder, Abnormal Periods, Menstrual Conditions, Anemia Damage to Fallopian Tubes, Cervical Disease, Abnormal Anatomy of Uterus, Hemorrhaging, Elevated FSH, Vulvodynia, Fibroid Tumors, Follicular Cysts, and Unexplained Infertility. If female infertility is suspected, several tests are routine such as a blood test to check hormone levels and an endometrial biopsy to check the lining of the uterus. Two additional tests may also be ordered - Hysterosalpingography (HSG) and Laparoscopy. In male sterility, the causes may include Sperm Conditions (Asthenospermia & Teratozoospermia), Erectile Dysfunction (ED), Low Sperm Count, and Male Hormone Imbalance. If male infertility is suspected, a semen analysis is performed. This test will evaluate the number and health of his sperm. A blood test may also be administered to check the level of testosterone and other male hormones.

I started going to Agape Acupuncture on November 6th 2017 primarily for my facial paralysis along with high blood pressure, diabetes, high cholesterol and gastritis as my secondary illness.  I was first diagnosed on November 1st of 2017 and suffered no more than week before seeing Dr. Huang for my medical conditions. I was diagnosed with Trigeminal Neuralgia on my lower left jaw in January 2017, It was the most painful thing I have ever felt to a point that I can’t talk, eat and brush my teeth. The pain started back in December 2016, at first I thought it was a toothache coming from tooth crown.  After numerous visits to my dentist and from dental x-ray they couldn’t find anything wrong with my tooth. In January 2017, I went to see a neurosurgeon, went through MRI and was diagnosed with TN. He gave me several options including open surgery from the back of my skull, and this freaked me out. I went home to think this surgery option through with my wife, and luckily, my wife found this alternative option through acupuncture. I have never been to acupuncture session before in my life but this time I thought I would give it a try. 

On February 18, 2017 I went to see Dr. Huang for the first time. I started the acupuncture sessions 3 times a week and started taking herbs/nutrition that Dr. Huang recommended. Hi Dr. Huang,  I hope you have been well. This review is long overdue but I promised I'd get it over to you so here it is: I woke up one morning and noticed whenever I tried to close my right eye it would stay slightly open. Since I hadn't been sleeping well I just thought it was something that would go away with some rest. I went to bed that next night and even though my eye stayed slightly open I felt like I got a good night's rest, just to wake up the next morning with my eye open a little more. I pointed it out to my wife who thought I was messing with her but then once she realized I was serious she went to Google - Bell's Palsy. We read that it was something that would heal itself over time or Google also suggested if we went into a doctor a steroid shot might help. Not wanting a steroid shot, I figured I'd try my other option and wait it out. 

Over the next couple of days the palsy spread from my right eye to the entire right side of my face. I had no movement but I still had feeling. It was definitely a conversation starter, I told really good pirate jokes, and I literally had a fun side and a serious side. All joking aside, I felt like there had to be a better option than just waiting it out. 

We found Dr. Huang online and after reading many reviews about people who were successfully treated for Bell's Palsy, we gave him a call. His staff was kind from the beginning. Our initial consultation was done over the phone and he explained how acupuncture and herbs would help the nervous system to heal in my face and he was confident he could help me make a full recovery. I went in for my first round of treatments and it was the first time in a few days that I could sense my muscles again. I'm not saying I got movement back immediately, but before the treatment the muscles on the right side of my face felt like they were gone. It is a hard sensation to explain unless you've felt it yourself. With each subsequent visit that feeling of sensing muscles and eventual movement grew stronger. 

By the time I completed my treatment plan a little over a month later I was at least 98% better. Dr. Huang explained that the last 5% of the healing process is what takes the longest time. The following weeks I was 100% better and back to my normal functioning self. Around the middle of April 2018, I had been experiencing an increase in mental and physical fatigue, and I attributed it partly to my busy workload, but also to the Fibromyalgia I had been diagnosed with more than twenty-one years ago. Fibromyalgia, in some sense, if any medical professional can make, is a syndrome consisting of chronic pain throughout the body, nerve problems, mental distress, fatigue, brain fog, muscle stiffness and a whole other giant list of not-so-fun symptoms that seem to be treated mainly with the occasional anti-depressant. (My fellow Fibromyalgia friends know of this all too well.) I considered this to be one of my seasonal “flare-up,” as I had grown to call them, but I was concerned that this time around seemed to be causing me more fatigue than usual. In recent years, I had also been tested twice for Lupus, but, thankfully, both tests were negative, and I had also been told that I had both Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, as well as Epstein-Barr Virus. I speculated that the latter were also contributing to my increased fatigue, but I really felt I needed to seek out medical treatment to see if it would help ease some of my symptoms.

Never a big fan of taking medications, whether over-the counter or prescribed, as these would often make me feel worse, I believed in more holistic approach to healing. For this flare-up, I felt compelled to do some research via the Internet for doctors who were familiar with treating Fibromyalgia, and I came across a website for Dr. Kevin Huang and Agape Natural Health (“Agape”). After reading many of the testimonials on the website for Agape, especially the ones by people who got relief for Fibromyalgia, I became filled with hope that maybe acupuncture was exactly what I needed, and so I immediately made an appointment with Agape for the following week.

Coincidentally, during the same time, one of the symptoms I had been suffering from was a strange ulcer on my tongue. I recall noticing the ulcer shortly after eating some walnuts one day while I was at work, and immediately after eating them, I felt a pain resembling that of a bee sting on my tongue. It was incredibly odd and concerning. A few nights later, I also had bitten my tongue during the middle of one night while I was asleep, which only added to the pain of the already-developed ulcer. I had never previously been allergic to walnuts, and tongue ulcers were never something I got when I had my Fibromyalgia flare-ups, so my cause for alarm continued to escalate. For many days, I tried various things to see if the ulcer would disappear- salt water and mouth rinses, canker-sore treatments, those dreaded medications, etc.- but, absolutely nothing was helping to decrease the pain or size of the ulcer. So, during the same time frame I'd be seeing Dr. Huang at Agape, I was also already scheduled to have appointments with my regular doctor, a dentist, as well as an ENT, to determine what was going on inside my mouth.

My husband had accompanied me on most visits to Agape, including the very first one, whereupon Dr. Huang and all his staff were so friendly and welcoming. (Special side note - the doctor and the staff at Agape have continuously been warm and welcoming.) Prior to having my first acupuncture treatment, Dr. Huang consulted with my husband and I and asked all sorts of questions about my reasons for coming in.  I had informed Dr. Huang of my history with Fibromyalgia and the onset of fatigue I'd been experiencing, but I also pointed out to him about the ulcer on my tongue and that I was waiting for to be seen about it by various doctors. Dr. Huang took copious notes on everything, and he looked at my tongue specifically and noted his concern that the ulcer on my tongue might, in fact, be cancerous. Of course, this caused me some further fear, but Dr. Huang made me feel at ease, in that, he had helped many patients in the past who had all different forms of cancer, and many of those people ended up being cancer-free after being treated, both with the acupuncture and modern medicine, like chemotherapy and radiation.

In conclusion of the consultation with Dr. Huang, I then had my first acupuncture treatment at Agape and remember that it was a very pleasant experience. From the nice décor of the room I was in, to the soothing music playing over the loud speaker, to hardly noticing the pins placed on my body, I felt a sense of calm. Even after the appointment was over, and throughout the day, I felt very relaxed. I especially needed this, given the increasing amount of stress I was going through, trying to resolve the ever-growing concern over my tongue. Dr. Huang also had me begin taking two different types of herbal supplements on a daily basis in order to strengthen my immune system and had suggested some food therapy. Within the first week of following this regimen, I noticed that some of my fatigue had dissipated.

Shortly thereafter, after receiving multiple opinions from multiple doctors, it was determined, in fact, that the ulcer on my tongue was State III Squamous Cell Carcinoma. At the very least, this provided me with an explanation for the onset of my incredible fatigue but also for the reason why nothing was helping to shrink the ulcer on my tongue. To say the least, I was scared to death with the diagnosis. The Big C. What did all this mean? What could the outcome be? So many unanswered questions did I have. From the third opinion I'd received from a specialist/surgeon at UCI Medical, I was told, at the very least, that I'd need in-hospital surgery to hopefully remove the cancer from my tongue. This meant having to have at least 1/3 of my tongue removed, but the surgeon explained to me that he would not truly know how much of my tongue for sure would need to be removed until the actual surgery itself. I'd also most likely have to have removal of some of my lymph nodes from my neck in the same region as the cancer on my tongue, but I wouldn't know whether I'd need chemo therapy or radiation at the time and/or following the surgery. This created a whole other gamut of fear and unanswered questions, not to mention the wreaking of more havoc and stress on my body from all the anxiety.

When my husband and I met with Dr. Huang next, we shared with him the terrifying diagnosis, and he immediately grabbed my hand and my husband's hand, and he prayed for me and asked God for help in healing me. Dr. Huang also offered further words of encouragements to help put my mind at ease. He and his staff then decided to completely change course of treatment on me to assist with the healing process and preparation of my upcoming surgery. Dr. Huang's sincerest concerns truly touched my heart.

Fast forward to September 20, 2018, when I had the intense surgery. I feel lucky and blessed to say that I only needed the 1/3 of tongue removed as my surgeon suggested at the minimum, and that the margin were clean beyond the portion removed. I also only had 19 of my lymph nodes removed from my neck and found out ten days later that the pathology reports showed that the cancer had not spread. It goes without saying that I was beyond thrilled and incredibly relieved, but mostly grateful to God and all the love and care I'd been shown by so many people around me. This, of course, included Dr. Huang and his staff, and I couldn't wait to share the amazing news with them. When I had, I was dubbed a miracle, and Dr. Huang affectionately calls me that each time he now sees me. Thank you so much, Dr. Huang. 

As for any person who might read my testimonial, I'd like to say that I am a true believer in acupuncture and more natural forms of healing, like those of the herbal supplements provided by Agape. Not to say that there's not benefit to modern medicine, too, because there is, and they helped save me, too. But, I honestly feel that the treatments I'd been receiving at Agape, along with the positive reinforcements, kept my body strong to not only get through the surgery, but that it all helped in keeping the cancer more localized, rather from it spreading further. I am so grateful to Dr. Huang and the staff at Agape for being part of that healing process for me during my scary journey. To this day, I continue to come in for treatments and take the supplements, just to maintain and keep my body strong. Thanks so much, Dr. Huang and the Agape staff!!
