For 14 years I’ve had migraines and headaches, and it worsened over time. I had insomnia, neck pain and stiffness, pressure on my chest and I could not breathe. I could not eat and was vomiting. Any loud noise hurt my head and I had irritability all the time. I had to quit school and could not go to family gatherings. I was unable to perform activities I once used to and unable to exercise as often as before. The migraines totally took over my life and affected every part of my life. The MD gave me pain medications and sleeping pills. I was taking the drugs from February 2011 to September 2012. They stopped working after a while and the side effects of the medications were vomiting and shortness of breath.
My first visit to Agape Acupuncture, Inc. was September 13, 2012. A friend of mine who got great results from Dr. Kevin Huang referred me to this clinic and my friends and family were supportive. I wanted to get better and be able to cope with the headaches a little better. The clinic seemed very small and inviting – a one on one experience and very friendly. At age nine I experienced my first migraine. I have been suffering from migraines for the last seven years. The past year was especially painful. I began to experience at least one migraine each week. The pain from the migraines intensified after receiving a concussion from football.
On December 1, 2012, I went through my first acupuncture treatment. The Natural Medicine Center created a calm environment with a friendly and cheerful staff. November 2012 I was diagnosed with Plantar Fasciitis and I’ve had migraines for 15 years. My initial reaction to the diagnosis was despair because I’m a Zumba Instructor. I thought this would stop me from continuing. I had severe pain in my left foot and heel, which affected my work, home, and social life. I could barely walk, I could not do my chores or exercise. I was a Zumba Instructor; I had got a lot of new jobs and then my foot started to hurt with Plantar Fasciitis. I wanted to keep walking, so I gave natural medicine a try. For 20 years, I suffered with migraine headaches. The migraines were every month, lasting 3 days like clock work. It was awful because I knew what was coming. It progressively got worse and I suffered from vomiting, blurred vision, and a constant throbbing pain on the left side of the head. It was an awful experience that words cannot express, and it interrupted my whole lifestyle. I had to gauge life around this condition and it often left me bed ridden.
I saw a migraine specialist who put me on drug medications and pain killers. I have been on migraine medicine over 20 years. The medicine made me feel lethargic, irritable and impatient. It was always a new drug prescription, and I had given myself so many shots every month, I felt like a drug addict. "I hated it." Nothing worked and when the shots did not work, I had to go to the emergency room.
On June 4, 2005, I came to the Natural Medicine Center because for 4 days straight I felt the pain and it didn’t cease. I didn’t want to go on like this and I didn’t want to live anymore.
