Acupuncture is generally not painful. We treat babies, children and the elderly. People experience acupuncture needles differently. On November 24, 2018, I went to the dermatologist and was diagnosed with eczema dermatitis. I was shocked. I didn't realize I had something that serious because I was pretty healthy; it was odd that I had severe eczema. Eczema caused me to have severe swelling, major pain that felt like someone was punching me in the face. My primary doctor prescribed Prednisone, but they had bad side effects. I even tried high dose IV, and that didn't help at all. They kept prescribing me more and more medication; it made everything worse. Eczema affected my social life, work, and sleep. I was in pain all day, sad, and depressed. I wanted my life back, and I knew there had to be a better way.

On September 20, 2019, I came to Agape Nature Health for my consultation with Dr. Huang. I received acupuncture, herbal medicine, and dietary guidelines. I followed all of the recommendations, had a proper bedtime, and I got the results fast! After my first treatment, the pain was almost gone. The swelling went down, no headaches, no pain! I could sleep without medication. The needles didn't hurt, and the doctor was super gentle. 

I was always a firm believer in natural medicine since back home; my grandfather did acupuncture. I've seen results growing up but never used it for myself until now. I started feeling better right away! My skin cleared up, no more acne - smooth skin! I had an increase in energy. My coworker asked, "What's wrong with you?! You have too much energy!" The Principle of 8-8-8 | A Healthy Lifestyle

Many things we do in our lives require structure and balance in order to create the best environment to nurture health and wellness. Much of what we do occur in the lifestyle that we set as a pace for how we run our lives, our household, and modeling that for family and children. These are traditions we will pass on from generation to generation and are memorable. It is important to observe and learn about lifestyle and habits. Changing certain aspects of lifestyle may mean the difference between staying healthy and aggravating diseases. For a balanced day, we recommend establishing the guidance of 8-8-8 rule. This purposefully sets aside 8 hours for sleep, 8 hours for work, and 8 hours for recreation.

8 HOURS FOR SLEEP

The 8 hours set aside for sleep is designated for our body to recharge, rest and reset. Much of natural healing and repair of internal organs takes place during these important hours and sleep promotes proper immune function and general body health and wellness.

8 HOURS FOR WORK

The 8 hours set aside for work at a job also includes school for students, and training hours and work-outs for professional athletes. The activities that are included in these hours engage, labor and challenge our mind and/or body and require focus, dedication and concentration. 

8 HOURS FOR RECREATION

The 8 hours set aside for recreation and enjoyment include periods of relaxation, breaks, stretching, time for grocery shopping and preparing meals, meal time, family time, physical activities, exercise, church activities, and other social events. Menopause is a natural biological process that marks the end of a woman's reproductive cycle. It is part of the aging process where women no longer release eggs from their ovaries, and their menstruation cycle completely stops. Menopause syndrome typically happens to women in their 40s or 50s, but some may experience it sooner (premature menopause) due to damaged ovaries or a hysterectomy.

Treatment can consist of hormone replacement therapy (HRT) to replace hormones (estrogen and progesterone) that is no longer produced by the ovaries. Vaginal estrogen cream, insert, or gel helps with vagina dryness by releasing a small amount of estrogen in the vagina and then absorbed into the vaginal tissues. A low-dose of antidepressants, Gabapentin or Clonidine helps decrease menopausal hot flashes, and osteoporosis medication helps reduce bone loss. However, with the use of medications, it can increase health risks such as heart disease or breast cancer. 

ACUPUNCTURE TO BENEFIT MENOPAUSE SYNDROME
Acupuncture and herbal medicine induce homeostatic response on the cellular level. They influence the body's internal organs to correct disrupted vital balance. Acupuncture helps the body by correcting the hormone imbalance by regulating the blood flow, metabolism, and quality of life as they transition to another stage of their life. Acupuncture and herbal medicine help by stimulating the central nervous system to release chemicals in the brain. The brain then releases other chemicals and hormones that influence the body's own internal regulating system. Acupuncture is safe and painless. There are no drugs or hazardous equipment used, and no surgical operation performed. 
 
CASE STUDIES:
Based on a one year research conducted by Wake Forest School of Medicine and Duke University School of Medicine on the effectiveness of acupuncture on the menopausal syndrome. "The study population included 209 women age 45-60 who had at least four vasomotor symptoms per day and had not had a menstrual period for at least 2 months." Their participant was randomized into two groups. The first group had individualized acupuncture treatment for the first half of the year and usual care for the remaining second half of the year and the second group study was reversed. "Acupuncture care consisted of up to 20 treatments (the specific number was determined by the participant and practitioner); was given by licensed, experienced acupuncturist in a "real world" clinical setting; and included diagnoses from traditional Chinese medicine, a history, a physical examination, and an individualized treatment plan. All participants kept a daily diary on the frequency and severity of their vasomotor symptoms. They underwent study assessments at 2, 4, 6, 9, and 12 months after group assignment. The researchers found that acupuncture significantly reduced vasomotor symptoms by as much as 36.7 percent and improved several qualify-of-life measures, such as hot flash interference, sleep quality, physical symptoms, memory symptoms, and anxiety. All these benefits persisted at least 6 months beyond the end of acupuncture treatment... They began to see significant benefits after three acupuncture treatments, and they saw maximum clinical benefits after a mean of eight treatments."
