“There was a peace that I had not experienced in a very long time.”

It was the summer of 2012 when I first began to see little red bumps developing on my legs. I had assumed that they were bug bites, and that they would disappear if left alone for a while. A few weeks later, these bumps had covered my legs and were starting to appear on all parts of my body. They were very itchy and would often blister, causing pain as well. The ones that appeared on my fingers were especially difficult to deal with, as they made simple acts such as carrying objects much harder.

I went to doctor, who recommended me to another doctor, who recommended me to a dermatologist. He gave me some ointment to put on my skin, but it didn't really seem to help much. I went to another dermatologist, who diagnosed it as eczema. I have a few friends who have eczema, but their symptoms seemed much different from mine, as I had blistered sores covering most of my body, making normal, everyday tasks very difficult. The new dermatologist gave me a different set of ointments to try. Although it helped with the sores, new ones would keep appearing.

After about eight months, I went to another doctor on my parent's recommendation. My skin didn't seem to be doing much better there, and I found myself relying on the ointments just to make it through the day and allow myself to sleep at night, even though I knew overuse would be bad for my skin in the long run.

I had just about run out of options when my pastor's wife sent me an email. Her friend had been treated by Dr. Kevin Huang and recommended him to me. Although I never understood much about acupuncture or natural medicine, I felt like it couldn't hurt to check it out, especially since this doctor was a Christian like me.

At first things were difficult — I was put on a strict diet when I was used to eating whatever I wanted. I had to go to bed early even though the itchiness made it hard to sleep, and I was told to exercise more. I was given a new cream — one that would not be damaging to my skin. However, after a few months, I noticed that the sores were disappearing at a much faster rate than new ones are appearing. After a few more months my skin was looking a lot healthier. Any sores that popped up disappeared quickly. I was able to do a lot of things that I had given up on. I could travel without worrying about how bad my skin would feel. I could wear clothes that were previously too uncomfortable on all the sores. I could take a shower without feeling very itchy afterwards. There was a peace that I had not experienced in a very long time.
