When I was in Kindergarten, my parents noticed my face and legs swell up from water retention. After visiting a doctor, they said I had childhood onset, minimal change nephrotic syndrome.
My mom, being the research-warrior that she is, decided to take me to Agape Natural Health, and commit to a natural medicine regime: very limited sugar and salt in my foods, juicing and clean foods, plus acupuncture and herbs. I was young and couldn’t swallow the herbs yet, so we got creative and ground them up with a mortar and pistol and mixed them into applesauce.

4-5 years ago, I was diagnosed with the Epstein Barr Virus (EBV) and Lupus and I suffered the whole time. In 2000, I had a vaginal hysterectomy and a platelet issue and almost died. In 2004, I came down with a kidney infection and almost died and went home with a PICC (Peripherally Inserted Central Catheter) line inserted through a vein in the arm for 2 weeks. I suffered from chronic fatigue, severe heart pain, bone pain with severe inflammation, severe lower back pain, and weight gain. I couldn't do anything and I lived on the couch. It was horrible and I thought that I was dying. I also had mononucleosis at the same time. I couldn't use my muscles to walk or move. I had so much swelling. Everything slowed down.
I sought the help of a cardiologist, bone doctor and went to a fibromyalgia clinic and also to UCLA. I took every drug known to man including Provastatin, Prilosec, Amiloride, Hydrochlorothiazide, Hectorol, and I had IV treatments. They gave me diabetes medication and had me drinking calcium. They were horrible. I had the shakes and low blood pressure. I had migraines, I couldn't see, and I was getting weaker plus having bone pain. As a result of all this, I ended up on Nitroglycerin tabs. I thought I was having complications from all the medications while getting worse. I was told there was no cure for me, but only manage me.

To meet the Dietary Guidelines for Americans, choose a diet with most of the calories from grain products, vegetables, fruits, lowfat milk products, lean meats, fish, poultry, and dry beans. Choose fewer calories from fats and sweets.

Food choices depend on history, culture, and environment, as well as on energy and nutrient needs. People also eat foods for enjoy- ment. Fat contributes more than twice as much—about 9 calories per gram. Alcohol, although not a nutrient, also supplies energy—about 7 calories per gram. Foods that are high in fat are also high in calories. However, many low fat or nonfat foods can also be high in calories.

Psoriasis is an autoimmune disease that accelerates the life cycle of the skin cells. They cause the dead skin to buildup on the surface, leading to red lesions with thick silvery scale patches. Psoriasis is commonly found on the elbows, knees, scalps, lower back, face, palm, and soles of feet, but they may show up anywhere. Psoriasis tends to flare up for a few weeks or months, and then subsiding from time to time. People with psoriasis also have other serious health conditions such as diabetes, heart disease, and depression.

Depending on the severity of the condition, symptoms of psoriasis may vary in each individual. Hashimoto's thyroiditis is an autoimmune disease that attacks the thyroid gland. The thyroid gland produces hormones that regulate how the body uses its energy. I wanted to do natural medicine. I was referred to Natural Medicine Center in Costa Mesa by a client at my job. On March 27, 2012, I began acupuncture and herbal supplements at Natural Medicine Center to relieve the pain and improve my overall health. I believed in natural medicine and though my friends and family were supportive, I was not sure just how much I would improve.
It works! In about 2 weeks I began to feel better. I have increased energy and I can enjoy cooking, cleaning my house and enjoying social life more. I got better at a much faster rate and the pain has decreased by 95%. I’m so happy with the results. I have tried other methods and natural medicine works. In 2004, I begin to have numbness and pain in my joints, which affected every part of my life. It was hard for me to take care of my baby and do all the things a mother needed to do; change his diaper, bathe him, and even to carry him was painful. In 2005, I was diagnosed with Rheumatoid Arthritis - an autoimmune condition. I was sad and could not believe it – I was scared. I went to the MD and was prescribed Naproxin and Methotrexate (MTX). The side effects were cough and my blood count was abnormal. It helped for a time and I stopped the medications in 2006. In 2011 my condition started again and this time the drugs did not help.
