When I was in Kindergarten, my parents noticed my face and legs swell up from water retention. After visiting a doctor, they said I had childhood onset, minimal change nephrotic syndrome.

My mom, being the research-warrior that she is, decided to take me to Agape Natural Health, and commit to a natural medicine regime: very limited sugar and salt in my foods, juicing and clean foods, plus acupuncture and herbs. I have been struggling with Systemic Sclerosis, also known as scleroderma, GERD (Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease), Anxiety, and Stress for about three years now. “I was Stage 4 head, neck, throat cancer that spread to my lungs, my survival was low and I am now free of cancer according to my last PET scan. The fact that they can’t see it on a scan is pretty amazing to me!”

I was diagnosed on August 5, 2013 with Stage 4 Head, Neck and Throat Cancer. I was scared and worried. My condition basically kept me locked down at home on my couch and it was lonely. It kept me fatigued all the time with a dry mouth and limited me from doing cardio. It limited me from going out in the sun and kept me from the beach and riding my bike. I suffered with this condition for 1 year.

I had radiation to the throat area, chemotherapy for 5 weeks - 1 every week during 24 radiation treatments to the throat. The second round was 1 every 3 weeks for 6 months. I had a throat tube put in because I couldn’t breath when I went into the ER, and I was there for a month. The tracheostomy tube did not come out for 4 months because the tumor was wrapped around my esophagus. When they took the tube out and did another scan, they found that the cancer had spread to my lungs. They did a needle biopsy and found out that it was the same from my throat and that it had spread. It was a cancerous lung nodule 8mm that spread from my throat.

I had 6 rounds of chemotherapy for the lungs. I was also on medications for pain (morphine and hydrocodone) and Xanax for anxiety. I didn’t like any of it because the whole process of treatments made me miserable, and I had a lot of anxiety with the chemotherapy treatments.

I was always a believer in natural remedies and I read a lot about it first. I came to Agape Acupuncture on February 6, 2014 and found Dr. Huang to be knowledgeable and that they were really concerned about me and very supportive. Major Determinants of Health

Natural health and wellness are determined by many factors such as food, nutrition, environment, emotions, exercise, sleep, lifestyle, healthcare, and medical treatment. It is not enough to only give attention to one aspect and ignore the rest. All of these important components must work together simultaneously and be synchronized to completely benefit the body. 

It is the responsibility of doctors, nurses, medical technicians, nutritionists, pharmacists and all those who work in the medical field to provide patients with correct information regarding the major determinants of health. It is not right to only render treatments and give medications to the sick, without providing for the total wellness of the patient and incorporate preventative measures to reduce the risks of the patient becoming sick.

The only way to fully understand whether a food is good or bad for the body is through proper education.

If wrong foods are not controlled, diseases cannot be treated effectively. For example, a diabetic patient came to our clinic with a blood sugar level of 285. She had congestive heart failure, high blood pressure, and severe edema in her ankles, knees, hips, belly button and lower ribs. She was also overweight. She was on 40 units of insulin each day and medication for her heart and the high blood pressure. She came to us saying, “I am dying, I am dying”. Upon completion of her diagnostic examination and reviewing her personal and medical history, we found out that she was drinking three glasses of orange juice and lots of sodas every day, using butter, and heavily eating meats for protein. We immediately told her to eliminate these foods from her diet. Her response was, “I’ll follow, but no one had ever told me not to eat these foods”.

This place is amazing and life changing! I brought my mom here when her health got really bad. The doctors wanted to put stints and she was on about 15 different medications. She was on Dialysis and had a never ending cough for about 10 years(valley fever). It felt really hopeless for her and for all our family. We discovered Dr. Huang over six years ago when our 17-year-old daughter's health dramatically declined. Initially we didn't understand what was happening to her, but based on her blood tests and symptoms it was determined that she had an autoimmune condition. Her regular doctor wanted to treat all her symptoms with a variety of medication that would eventually harm her, and yet he said the drugs would not ultimately heal her. I first started coming to Dr. Huang in October of 2017. I had been suffering with desquamative inflammatory vaginitis or chronic vaginitis in general for 4 1/2 years. I kept getting misdiagnosed for the first 2 years with my medical doctor and the last 2 1/2 years, my OB helped with the symptoms, but never knew why I was still experiencing moderate symptoms. I was constantly prescribed with drugs or creams that never got to the root of the problem and stopped working. Finally, I was fed up and started looking at alternative options. I went to another acupuncturist before Dr. Huang, but she never solved any of my health issues. I found Dr. Huang by chance, and was impressed by his knowledge and testimonials that provided evidence for his work. After 6 months of treatment, I am about 90-95% recovered and hardly feel symptoms, which is way better than when I first started with him. Dr. Kevin Huang and his staff are dedicated to providing the best alternative health care that I wish were more common place in today's modern medicine system.  

I came back after almost 10 years because I was desperate for an alternative solution to my acid reflux.  I'm glad I did!   It's been three weeks, and my condition is improving steadily. 

The acupuncture sessions are short, but effective with a compliment of herbal supplements that I take following meals.  Given my results so far, I decided to bring my mom who has been struggling with shingles and muscle pain.   She just completed her first week of treatment, and has decided to continue for the full 12 weeks.

This place is amazing!!! For 6 long months, I was covered head to toe in hives everyday. I went to so many doctors and allergy specialists just trying to figure out why they just randomly appeared one day when I have never had any allergies before! After all those tests, medications and diet changes, nothing helped so they just gave me a bunch of drugs to keep them from driving me crazy. But im so happy to say that just  after two months of acuptutre and herbs they are almost completely gone! I had struggled with a bad case of Eczema, in which itchy red sores appeared all over my skin. After visiting five different doctors over the course of a year, I found that none of them could help me. One of them gave me a cream to help relieve the itching, but it was bad for my skin in other ways.

I came to Agape Acupuncture on the suggestion of my pastor's wife, whose friend had a good experience here. The treatment wasn't what I was used to - acupuncture sessions, dieting, herbal pills, and a natural cream that wouldn't harm my skin. However, within a few months, I could see dramatic improvement. I was able to go out and do things without feeling constant discomfort. I was able to wear clothes that previously were too harsh on my skin.
